We had an opportunity of visiting Virtue Bistro (Chesapeake, VA) establishment on March 23, 2025, upon glancing over the limited menu, it wasn’t much to choose from, and no appetizers or desserts are available on the brunch menu. (See Picture) My party decided to order drinks and the following entrees: lamb chops and eggs, shrimp and grits, whiting and grits, and scrambled eggs with breakfast potatoes.
While other reviews have stated, the drinks come out pretty quickly this is a fact. As for the food, it’s going to take a while, and not all will come out at the same time. We were informed the lamb chops were sold out and opted to order the chicken and waffles; for $18.00, the quantity was very disappointing, and only a partial piece of chicken and a small waffle accompanied the small plate; however, the breakfast potatoes smelled good and had a nice taste. While one entrée came out 20 minutes later, the fish and grits and side of macaroni and cheese finally made it present. Again, the quantity was very small; it was like 2 whiting’s cut in half and put in a childlike cereal bowl with stone-ground grits. The macaroni noodles were overcooked, but the taste was edible. Another 30 minutes later, the shrimp and grits finally came out.
At this point, we were so disappointed with this restaurant and service, we decided to ask for to-go boxes, so totally we waited for approx. 1 hour just for our 4th person to get an ordered of scrambled eggs and breakfast potatoes make this make SENSE! We found out the most we can say.
This establishment has a lot of improvements that are needed to compete with other breakfast spots and for longevity in the...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I went for brunch as we had heard about a new black owned business opening. We walked in and I went to the restroom to wash my hands and the sewer smell almost had me vomiting in the restroom. I know Chesapeake has issues so I just shrugged it off. I ordered the French toast and my friend ordered the steak -well done with potatoes and fried egg done medium. We were the third party in the restaurant. While there the server was friendly and helpful about menu choices. While there, 3 other parties came in and ordered. All three of them received their food INCLUDING my friend - as I still waited. I went to ask how a well done steak can be delivered and 3 other parties that arrived after us, and of which one person at each table ordered French toast and I still not have my French toast. They went through a great deal of investigation. My food order had never been submitted- All the while my friend was eating. Wouldn’t the question pop up why am I only serving one person at the table? It was stated that I could wait for them to prepare it. Honestly by this time I had to leave because I was so irate. The fact that my friend actually received her food and was eating and I was still waiting for French toast was ridiculous. My friend’s egg was overcooked. The potatoes she received - I ate a forkful and they were tasty. But since I never got my food after waiting nearly an hour and 10 minutes, I’ll not return. I ended up patronizing a non minority owned business. Super...
Read moreI’ve been to this spot many, many times—mostly between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. which is Happy Hour. The vibe during that time is super laid back, perfect for winding down after work or catching up with friends. I’ve never stayed past 8 p.m., but I hear that’s when it really turns up! The happy hour food menu is one of my favorite things here. I love it—and so do my friends, especially the drink specials. The Lamb Chops are tender and seasoned to perfection. Same goes for the Ribeye. I also highly recommend the Broccolini, House Salad, Asparagus, and Fries—everything is fresh and flavorful. The Mac and Cheese tastes homemade, rich and comforting. If you're in the mood for something snackable, try the Philly Steak Eggroll—absolutely delicious! The Salmon Bites are a hit too, along with the Wings and the Burger, which are both solid choices. I’ve also been here for Sunday brunch and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The Lamb Chops and Eggs, Grits, Whiting, and French Toast are my go-to’s. Each dish is full of flavor and cooked just right. I haven’t tried everything on the menu yet, but I definitely plan to. If you haven’t been, give it a try—you’ll be pleasantly surprised....
