El Toro Loco — Restaurant in Chesapeake

I’ve wanted to review this place for such a long time, but have hesitated because I didn’t have the names of the employees who contribute so greatly in making El Toro Loco the Chesapeake gem that it is. I still don’t have the names because…what can I say?!…their food is so good, it’s all I can think about!!

But it’s time to leave this long overdue review….

How do you properly review a place like this? It’s not perfect. There’s certainly some variance from day to day in quality, but overall El Toro Loco is an absolute MUST for all residents of the Great Bridge area of Chesapeake. Their food is OUTSTANDING and their service is second to none. The management team and the wait staff are just…genuine. amazing. wonderful. kind. caring. interested in making your lunch or dinner truly a great experience.

Is El Toro Loco where you’d take your wife for your 20 year wedding anniversary? No. But for almost every other occasion, it’s a wonderful place to share good food and good times with your family and friends.

Their food is fresh, and it quickly comes to your table. It’s delicious. It’s INEXPENSIVE! Can I say that again? IT’S INEXPENSIVE!! El Toro Loco is great value and when you combine all the attributes of this place that make it the gem it is, you will not find a better place to take your family for lunch or dinner.

Do yourself and your family a favor, and visit El Toro...

There was a short wait for the two of us. The atmosphere was standard authentic Mexican with not so comfortable bench seats for our booth. The chips and salsa were fantastic! Hearty chips, well balanced salsa with plenty of cilantro and onions. My wife likes a runnier salsa and I like it thick. It was balanced enough to accommodate us both in that I took big chunks and she could get the liquid stuff left over. They did provide a white sauce too, but I don't like that stuff anywhere I eat Mexican, so no further comment! I ordered a number 7 which was a burrito, enchilada, and two tacos. The tacos were great! Hearty shells that didn't break down even soaked in the ranchero sauce. The burrito and enchilada were meh. Just a tortilla filled with chicken. No rice or beans. The sauce was ok and it was topped with cheese. The food showed up super fast, but they were slow on the check.

This will not be our new go to Mexican place, but I won't say no if a group of friends want to go here. I will probably get a...

Worst place ever! I'm shocked it's still alive in GB. I asked for 3 chicken tacos and that I wanted shrimp on the side and that the up charge is fine but he kept telling me no we don't have shrimp chicken tacos and no you can't have shrimp in your taco and I kept explaining that I just want a side of shrimp to put in my taco and I was making the taco and he said no and then asked if I want a side of shrimp and I said sure and then he kept confirming and I said forget it whatever on the shrimp and my husbands order comes out and mine doesn't at all. In fact I had to go ask about it and they forgot and he played stupid. I knew we should have gone to el loros cause this place sucks! We should have walked out when they didn't bring my order and my husband was halfway through his meal. Horrible service. The whole thing made me cry with frustration at the table...
