Borrowed a truck and drove 25 miles to purchase a bed when I got home and started to assemble the bed i discovered no hardware for the headboard was included i contacted the store and the furniture manager told me to look harder it should be attached to the back of the headboard or in the box I looked again no hardware i called back and asked if they had another which they didn't only the store display bed which they didn't offer nor did I ask them to disassemble for the screws i asked if another store may have one and i could get the hardware from and they could order the missing parts from the manufacturer they said no the stores keep their sales and inventory separate so I was told to contact the 800 number of the manufacturer meanwhile its getting late and I gave my old bed away so its a night on the couch. Next day call 800 number and was told that a truck may come in with the bed in three weeks but maybe not so they told me to contact the store so I decided I would pick the boxes borrow the truck again drive 25 miles again and return the bed the manager told me they would give me 10 percent off the price of the headboard which was approximately 19 dollars not 10 percent of the entire purchase which would have been around 50 dollars being that the headboard footboard and rails were sold separately when i arrived at the store they told me I couldn't get the 10 percent it was only if I kept it ( really) so they just refunded me my money and said have a nice day no apologies for the inconvenience for money and time lost no nothing. So I helped the employee unload the boxes to his cart because the manager didn't want to come outside and load the cart himself he looked weak and ashamed and couldn't look me in eye like a man but I don't want to mention names because none of the employees were rude but to me they didn't understand or really seem interested in my feelings or frustration that's why I'm writing this review to voice my opinion about this experience at this particular Big Lots in Chester I have never written a review before that was negative but I didn't leave their with a good feeling about Big Lots especially since I've been going to other Big Lots for years and have always been...
Read moreLooks like they have some new staff members -- I especially love Jasmine the most! She spotted me struggling to find some coconut oil and stopped her duties to help me not only locate the item I needed, but also check me out since the line was long up front. I have never had a bad day of customer service here! I also purchased some mattresses from here during their $10 box spring event and have never slept better. The salesperson for that section even told me a cheaper alternative to getting the items home compared to using the delivery service they have available. As one user mentioned, be wary of pricing -- some items are no different than other retailers, but some are a smidgen (or more!) cheaper. I like it for dog bones, leashes, collars, health/beauty products, kitchen items (pots/pans/utensils), and pantry foods. Just a warning, if you have a puppy like mine (pitbull, 50+ pounds and growing), then do NOT be surprised the collars don't stand up to abuse. They're more suited for small dogs or simply holding their rabies/name/registration tags with no use towards walks. He nearly snapped his off after 4 months of use, so I had to give in for a collar from Petco. The leash I bought a year ago, however, is...
Read moreI can't say I love Big Lots, but every once in awhile you do find a bargain there. I already put up 9 trees and this Christmas season took a look in Big Lots for more decorations. I found instead this pair of 44 inch flocked trees in little square pots with white lights already on them, $35 for the pair. I know my prices and that is cheap. I've seen tiny tabletop flocked ones for $20 each in other stores, so I grabbed these. The cashier told me I could get an additional 10% off for signing up for a discount card (not a credit card) and I did. This store seems well stocked, clean and the people who work there seem nice and helpful. I do think some of their items are overpriced, but it's worth it to browse and maybe find a...
