Not much to say other than this mall is lacking in everything from food to any sort of quality clothing. There's really no reason for me to ever go. There are many empty, dark stores that have been that way since I moved to Chico 5 years ago and there are literally no acceptable quality clothing stores or basic stores seen in all other malls across America (w/ the exception of Buckle, Vans, and a couple of overly priced children's stores). Also, the food court is pathetic and empty looking, with no appetizing choices. I don't really understand how any of the businesses stay open there because it always appears empty, except during the holidays when a few additional kiosks & temporary pop-up vendors come through. It's a good thing I don't really care for or shop at malls, because this one is lacking and feels depressing to walk through- Especially if one is expecting any sort of mall experience reminiscent of when malls were a popular place to go and hang out or grab a bite to eat. This mall is not that place!Once a year when my children want a day at the mall, we head down to Roseville or Sacramento and they are blown away by what other malls look like and how many choices are available for food and clothing. The Chico Mall just seems sad and I imagine it's on it's way out, although that was my thought 5 years ago when I first saw it and it remains open. I can only assume that most shopping in Chico happens in the cute down town or online these days. I hate to say it and be so negative, but anyone unfamiliar with or expecting a classic mall, should not waste their time at the Chico Mall as they will leave...
Read moreThe mall itself seems to be struggling. Anytime I go in, a new food place seems to be closed down or gone. However, aside from that the mall is pretty decent for Chico. The floors are usually always clean and I've never seen anything outrageously disgustingly dirty in the bathrooms or anywhere else so the place is clean & it's always very cool in there in the summer. I don't recall it ever being too cold in the winter so I'm assuming that they keep the building comfortable year-round which is nice.. They have a lot of different good stores to shop at, & even tho it seems the stores change often, they still are okay when it comes to financial things. They do have higher end stores & stores with stuff in all different price ranges from less expensive to average, but I personally have always been able to find stuff that is affordable there. Such as Forever 21 which is huge & has things that are super cute, for as little as under $5. JC Penney's can be affordable at times depending on how you shop. Shop sale stuff often or not.. Rue 21 is a very fair priced store usually. Even Victorias Secret/Pink can be with their sales. So overall it's not too...

If you’re a young girl trying to find skimpy clothes that make you feel like you look older, this is your spot too. If you’re a religious person, they’ve got your number in the Jesus shop ( Store name approximated). If you’re a 38 year old man (me) who’s looking for a couple shirts and a couple pair of boxer briefs, if you can manage to slip the massage guys before they wrangle you into one of those chairs with the toilet seats you put your head on, then you have to consider it a good day. Even if Buckle still only has shirts in size Medium. I mean, is everyone in this town 5’8”? I’d like to think not. But I’m used to it so I go in expecting to come right back out. No disappointment when prepared for the worst. So I guess if there was a tag line for this mall it might be:
The Chico Mall: 60% of the time you leave here...
