The east 20th location has gone from being my personal favorite taco bell in Chico, to by far one of the worst fast food locations overall in town. I just moved back into chico, and ever since coming back, theyāve been having nothing but problems. The first time I showed up since moving home, I went inside because I rode my bike. there was a group of people already waiting, and we all ended up waiting for over half an hour for someone to come to the counter, before I gave up and left. The next day I went back to try again, I took my car and tried the drive thru since that seemed to take priority over the people inside. And the line seemed to be moving super fast, until I came to the speaker and was told āsorry, we cant process orders at this time.ā ok sure, technical issues happen, I get it. But then the third time I went back the next day, and they forgot half of my order..
And then we come to the fourth time; the final straw for me, which is why Iām now writing my first review for anything on google. I got told at the speaker that there was a considerable delay, and my food might take a while. Iād consider myself a very patient person, and Iāve already put in my order online so I may as well wait. Well after sitting in line for over 40 minutes, it was now past 1am by the time I got to the window. The employee leans out the window and says āSo uhh. Weāre closed now. Sorry. You can talk to the manager if you want but sheāll tell you the same thingā and that was that. I didnāt even say anything, Iām not going to make a ruckus over 15 bucks. I get that closing time is what it is, but after watching them have a nice casual chat and fist-bumping with the people in front of me, and STILL handing them their food after closing time had passed, I canāt help but feel super agitated. Why even take the rest of our orders and waste our time? And since my online order got processed 40 minutes ago at the speaker, taco bell now has my money, and I have nothing but a rolled-taco-sized void in my heart :/
Iām not blaming the employees at all here, none of these incidents have really been their fault (besides missing half my order that one time, but we all have bad days). I just donāt know what caused this place to be suddenly plagued with so many problems!! I wonāt be coming back...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreToday Taco Bell reached bottom. Meal for 4, substituting beef tacos for chicken, and of course paying more. Total $32. Service guy was nice, food was not. Tacos did not include chicken ordered, Chicken Quesadilla only had cheese. Tasted absurdly bad. A thought hit me hard: why did you spend $32 on this place? No justification besides the hope it would be better than it was. It was not, and this Taco Bell took the desire from eating at one, anyone, anywhere. 1.5 Stars.
Feels weird. I went back tonight, after my last 1 Star review. I wanted a Beef Burrito Supreme like in the old days, when I lived by the beach and Taco Bell was blazing good. Ordered 3 to invite a friend one. Paid in the app. Arrived I was the only car, the new chicken place sucked the air of all neighboring franchises, kind of sad. These burritos, the more famous in their lineup cost near $7 a piece. Beef Supreme burritos is what I thought was in the bag, I even asked the inept, indifferent, incapable to fulfill the order correctly, but yes he said, you are all set. Arrived home there were 2 bean and cheese, 1 double layer crappy taco. What? Called, spoke to manager, very nice suggested I go back and get what I paid for. I did. Once again 1 car by the drive window. I'm offered a free drink while I waited, heck of a nice gesture. 10 minutes later manager hands me the order. I'm okey, situation fixed time to enjoy Saturday night. Back at my place, 3 bean rice burritos, 20 sauces all mild when I had requested hot. I bowed my head, sighed, because there is no way I will ever again eat Taco Bell. Invited or paid by me. Yes, they were polite, but the big void of twice wrong cheap order simply cut all ties. Who cares, right? Where one is gone, two more arrive. Perhaps the rumor of cannabis puffing may have its merit after all, but even I could see what a fruitless situation this one was. Very sad. When a food business functions at that level the ones that pay the broken dishes is the consumer because everyone else gets paid for their inferior performance, sadly again, is the consumer, but returning for more punishment that was entirely my silly...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePSA: review specifically aimed toward "The Big Cheez- It Crunchwrap" (and an honorary mention for the new nacho fries).
I love taco bell, don't get me wrong and the crunchwrap is my favorite item on the menu. It's my go-to, never to be disappointed meal. So, when I saw this new alternative, I was intruiged.
I also love cheez-its, so I expected this to be a win as well... it wasn't. The Big Cheez- It Crunchwrap was simply disappointing. The cheez- it part, or what I could only guess what was that (because of the thin orange inside) was completely soggy and didn't have any flavor or texture profile additions. Overall it is just eating a crunchwrap but without the crunch, which I'll tell you right now, is lackluster.
I came into this with awe and excitement and left with low marks. If you're looking for a crunchwrap, save your time and just get the original. That won't disappoint.
As for the honorary mention of the Nacho fries. Usually an honorary mention is for something good, however, these too were edible, but that's about it. They tasted like dust, had far from any real flavor, and were on the fine line between flimsy and soggy. The nacho cheese, as expected, tasted like nacho cheese (it's hard to get that wrong) but did nothing to help the fries themselves. (It feels wrong even calling them fries honestly because there was absolutely no crisp to them.) I would save yourself some time and money and...
