Bubba O'Leary's General Store — Local services in Chimney Rock

They had several signs posted throughout the store and on the front door of the store that clearly stated ALL REDLINED CLEARANCE 40% OFF. I took 1 t-shirt and two pairs of shorts to the counter for purchase. All 3 items were red lined clearance. The rude woman at the counter informed me the shirt was only 25% off evrn though the signs clearly srated ALL red lined is 40%. She sais she was the owner and blamed the signs on her husband....bottom line is she refused to do the right thing and sell the item at the 40$ discount per the signs. To make matters even worse when i gi to car i was looking at my recipt and saw she didnt discount the shorts at all!! I took the items with my reciept back to the store. When i walked in i went the counter and she was thier with her husband and she siad "O THATS HIM". I pointed out what she she did wrong and made her give the amount she overcharged me ( over 44.00 overcharged). Be very aware in this store...the sale signs are false advertising and the will cheat you at the register. Very misleading and not very trustworthy....stay away...

I was made to feel very uncomfortable by the store clerk who refused to allow me to run my card through as credit as opposed to debit which I often do to avoid having to expose my pin number to prying eyes. In addition, she asked to see my ID even though she forced me to use my card as debit. To add insult to injury one of the clerks threw my cup of hot chocolate away that I left outside while I shopped. I have been bringing tour groups through Chimney Rock for over a decade and have never been made to feel this uncomfortable with any of the other merchants. Sale items were not clearly marked. Red lined tag is "40%" off, however the shoe I picked up was red lined and had a 25% off sticker on it. When asked, it was only 25% off, not 40%. Also, the area where they keep the back stock of shoes isn't marked as employees only. When we reached in to grab the shoe we were going to buy, we were quickly chastised that it "employees only" in a very rude tone. I'd recommend keeping the curtain closed or a door on your "employee only" rooms and also having your employees not walk around looking like customers so it's clear who is an employee and who isn't. Definitely won't be doing...
