Wednesdays, Reggae Nights used to be fun. It's boring and dull now. For a concert, you can BARELY hear the music. The reason behind this is that the neighborly hotel customers are complaining because of how loud the music is.
This is FOUNTAIN SQUARE! Every evening there is something happening for exactly 2 hours. It's TWO HOURS of fun, dance and/or CULTURE! It is something to do in Cincinnati other than the usual and should be WELCOMED! If a customer has a complaint, CHOOSE ANOTHER HOTEL! One that's away from the dramatics of downtown and all it has to offer.
This past Wednesday, I couldn't dance and enjoy myself because I couldn't hear the music and I was practically in front of the stage. It was sad and pathetic.
After paying $7 to park in the garage underneath, purchasing food and drinks upon the square, the very least I should have had to worry about should have been the music. That's the whole purpose of a lot of people coming out in the evening. The CULTURE!
Sadly, I'm not sure that I'll return. Why waste my money and time for a place that is no longer welcoming the only 2 hours out of the week we have to enjoy ourselves. It's...
Read moreOne of the coolest parts of Cincinnati is The Tyler Davidson Fountain of Fountain Square. It is a beautiful work of art but it also has such an incredible story to tell, from the artist behind it, and gifting of it to the city, to the meaning of each figure adorning it. The fountain is the focal point of the square, giving it life during the seasons when the water is flowing.
The square, Fountain Square, is the "heart" of the city. It is surrounded by hotels, shops, restaurants and is a part of many events such as Taste of Cincinnati, Oktoberfest Zinzinnati and BLINK. In the winter it hosts the holidays with a huge lit tree and an ice skating rink.
During the summer there are concerts and dancing around the fountain. Sporting events are cast on the big screen. Downtown workers have lunch there. It's a great gathering spot.
It's a "must see" for anyone visiting the city.
(*We were on The Square on March 1, 2024 to pick up a bottle of Fountain Square Bourbon. That was the release date for a limited edition bourbon from Cincinnati Distilling and March First Brewing. The water used in the bourbon is from the same water source as the...
Read moreI am glad to see that Cinconnati has this cool event. The only thing that could have been better is if the rental skates had good laces. The clerks showed me several pairs, and each pair had broken, or cut laces. When you ice skate it is important to keep your skates tied tightly, and you can't do that if the skates have broken or cut laces. They also did not have any skate keys available to tighten laces. So, bring your own. The skates did seem sharp enough, but the ice was in bad condition. Obviously they can't get a Zamboni up on the platform to groom the ice. So, overall, it is something fun. I DO NOT recommend this as a first-time ice skating experience for children. Ice skating is not something that you can just put on skates and do the very first time. It is much more difficult than roller skating, and there is very little comparison between the two. So, overall, this is a cool thing, but not a thing for...
