Michael & Co. Jewelers — Local services in City of White Plains

I just had a thoroughly unsatisfactory experience at Michael & Co Jewelers in the Westchester Mall. I can't even believe I'm saying these words, yet, here we go.

I bought a Bulova watch 48 hours ago. The jeweler on staff had me try it on, decided to remove 3 links from it, told me it would be ready in 15 minutes, and then I paid for it with my Chase VISA/debit card.

I looked at it when I got home and realized I would rather return it. So I went back to the mall less than 48 hours later, with the "still in the box" watch, with the links that were removed in the case, with my debit card and receipt in hand.

Having been a customer of malls for 42 years, this is a very easy situation - the watch had only been customized to fit my wrist, no personalized engraving or anything. The links that were removed were still in the box, thus easy to re-add. And yet, the exact same jeweler opened the box, looked at it, and pronounced that i could NOT return it.

Why? I asked. Because, he said, you can't return a watch after the links are removed. But, I said, EVERY watch has some links removed, since wrists are not one size fits all. And he opened the box as if to look at the condition of the watch, yet he KNEW he had removed links from the watch, adding insult to injury.

I shop at multiple other watch stores in the White Plains area, and none of them have such a strict policy. Rodrigo's Jewelry, for example, has a 7 day return or exchange policy with receipt. I've bought many watches from there, and will certainly return there now that I've had such an unsatisfactory experience at Michael & Co's.

The jeweler was rude, unapologetic, and literally said the words, "we have no unsatisfied customers". When an unsatisfied customer is staring him the face. Is this how Michael's treats all their customers? I would certainly hope not.

I think that jeweler, who was the only employee in the store on Saturday, August 31st between 6-7pm, should be disciplined. He should not be allowed to be so unfeeling towards paying customers. This...

Unbelievable Attention to Detail and Outstanding Customer Service. I have been a customer of this small Jerry location for a few years and every time I visit for whatever the reason I am treated with “the jewelers touch”. I always look to speak with Michael and he is always kind and has earned my trust. From purchasing some items to repair work hands down they accomplish amazing results. This last visit brought me in for a watch repair - my wife accidentally did a load of laundry with her Movado watch in her pocket. The watch came out with the bands broken and severe water damage. Michael could not guarantee anything till he opened up the watch to see what could be done. A quick phone call after he dissected the problem with a quote and after agreement a quick turnaround repair. I did not recognize the watch upon pick up. They know how to work on jewelry and fine pieces. You would not expect it from a jewelry boutique on the top floor of the galleria in white plains. The honesty is beyond surprising make sure you ask for Michael on your visit! You will see the reason why for the 5 star review!

Came back today to see Michael 4 years later as per Google. We are at the new location in the Westchester Mall.

This time we visited because my little one wanted to pierce new ears.

He made my little girl feel comfortable and courageous. We had a few tears during and after but Michael’s patience and understanding was authentic.

Omg 😍 There are not enough words to express my gratitude and happiness right now!!! My fiance was in the process of ordering another ring from a site and i was looking for someone to custom make his fur me. And after coming from the gym i passed by Michael's and said hummmm let me ask if he even does this kind of work! I showed him my ideas and what i wanted changed and he said no problem i can do that for you... then he asked so what about your ring 😃 i called my fiance and told him to come upstairs, i stepped aside so they could talk and the master planning began.

Michael was so patient and creative and he showed us each step of the process, and the craftsmanship and quality so amazing! Needless to say on the way home we cancelled the other order. My husband and i are Soooo Happy we got to be creative and express our personalities with something so sentimental.
