Poor communication led to disappointing experience. I called to book an “Eb and Flow” massage for myself as I had been gifted a $220 + gift certificate for this specific treatment. I was given a 1:30 appointment. On my way to the spa, I received a phone call inquiring about my whereabouts and was advised that I was scheduled for 1:15pm. I explained that the woman who booked me specifically said 1:30pm However, I was pulling up to the hotel at that moment (1st miscommunication). I checked in, answered all the questions on the iPad, and was given a quick tour of the facility and provided a robe and locker. I changed into the robe only to be told by the masseuse, Yesenia that I was late and needed to be dressed for the massage (second miscommunication). She directed me to the bathroom to change as the only changing room was occupied. The masseuse seemed annoyed and was not sympathetic when I explained that I had been given the wrong appointment time. I’ve never received a massage fully clothed before and there was no description of what this “en and Flow” massage was. It turned out to be a Thai massage. Luckily, I had leggings on. The masseuse kept talking and asking me questions throughout the first half of the massage making it difficult for me to relax and enjoy the experience as I felt compelled to answer her. What should have been a 60 minute session was cut to 45 minutes. When i asked the masseuse why I only received 45 minutes, she reiterated that I was late and that she had to leave the spa by a specific time. I was then told that I could use the steam room, sauna and showers. I was not told about these facilities at the time of booking and did not come prepared with a change of clothes as a result so I was unable to take advantage of them (3rd miscommunication). I ended up laying in the “relaxation room “ for a few minutes, fully clothed with a small cup of water. Upon check out, I explained my disappointment to the front desk person, Jess and gave them tips for future bookings such as advising clients that they need to show up 15 minutes before their appointment for check in, advising them of the saunas and showers , advising them of the on site valet parking, etc. none of this was told to me nor is it on their website page. A description of what each massage entails would be helpful as well so the client comes prepared. Imagine if I would’ve came in jeans or a dress?! Jess apologized but did nothing to make things right, other than to give me a very small jewelry sized bag with a few free samples. I was then given my bill with an automatic 20% gratuity included. The total cost for this abbreviated massage was over $230. Way too overpriced for what was provided. I really hope they take my advice into consideration and implement it ASAP. What should’ve been a relaxing and enjoyable experience was...
Read moreI am super disappointed in the service of the opus spa. My husband gifted me a massage for Valentine’s Day. Drove there a few weeks ago and on the way, the front desk called to cancel as a therapist called out. Understand this happens, I ended up rescheduling. The woman was so nice on the phone and booked me for 10 am Saturday. I asked about the amenities and use beforehand, etc. I came from a morning workout class and arrived at 9-9:15. According to Google, they open at 9 am. They indeed were not open. Their website says 10. I waited in the lobby of the hotel and around 945 decided to call. To my surprise, they were open and opened at 930. This was not properly communicated. I went up to my appointment and explained the mishap and the front desk woman was noticeably unpleasant arguing that google and the website say 930. Anyhow, that’s wrong. She showed me to my locker and I had about 10 minutes for the sauna and steam room. Neither of them were warm, my hot Pilates class prior was warmer than the sauna. The steam room was not ready and smelled of mold. Rushed through those and sat in the relaxation lounge. About 20 minutes passed and nobody came in. I made my way to the front desk and asked if I was going to be seen for my 10 am. They seemed flustered and said they were working on getting a therapist; mind you three women already were called. They said it wouldn’t be much longer; however, I asked is there no one here? Sure enough, that was it, again. And that was also a sign that for what I’m paying, this place isn’t worth it. They were apologetic, but seriously, get your service together. Someone should have come and found me and explained this. Very disappointing experience and sad I drove there two Saturdays and have still not received a massage. This is a customer service and management issue. If you’re going to present your spa like a high-end experience, with the same prices to match, you must treat it like one. That is not the case. My suggestion - save your money and find a new place. There’s a reason this...
Read moreThe Opus Spa is lovely hidden gem spa in Westchester! This was my first experience at this spa. I decided to treat myself for my birthday with a deep tissue massage. I'll give a full breakdown on my experience:
The Massage (5/5) I did the 60 deep tissue massage with Hope and it was amazing! It was my first time getting a deep tissue massage and Hope checked in on me multiple times to make sure I wasn't experiencing and discomfort with the pressure. I had a LOT of knots and Hope really dug into them. I can see how this can be intense for some but for me, it was just what I needed!
The Steam Room (5/5) This steam room is no joke! I've been in a few spa steam rooms and this one by far is the hottest! Since the room runs on a timer, make sure it's one before you go in. The temperature reaches up to 119 degrees so if you're sensitive to extreme heat, proceed with caution. I LOVED IT! It was one of the major highlights on my experience.
The Sauna (4/5) I didn't spend too much time in the sauna but what I did experience was great! I felt it could've been slightly warmer (I didn't get a chance to look at the thermometer in there but it felt like it was roughly 80-85 degrees).
The Pool (3.5/5) The pool area itself is fairly nice but the pool itself could use a bit of a facelift. There were some rusted spots on the floor tiles and the temperature of the pool was on the colder side. It is late February so I wasn't expecting it to be very warm but it definitely could be warmer.
All in all, I give The Opus Spa 4/5! I'll definitely be returning at some point in the future when I want to spoil myself with a massage. I personally had a really incredible experience and although it's not a perfect 5/5, it ranks up there with spas I've been to on international vacations and that's...
