I went in to J C Wakes to buy an Aventon Pace 3 (after 1.5 years of research - I had watched dozens of You Tube bike test rides with acceleration, hill climbs and braking data and had my mind made up) and, after describing my key requirements (low step over height, reasonable weight, a healthy motor to get up steep hills and powerful brakes), Gary said I should ride his prototype Santa Monica. I did and, after further discussion with Gary about the manufacturer (he shared his knowledge of the company, Aima, that I had never heard of, including their 25 years of experience in bike building and that they make over 10 million bikes a year), I placed an order for one (they weren't available yet when I ordered it). Gary and I agreed on a price (discounted for my early order) and he honored that price although the bike was selling for more by the time it came in. I thank Gary every time I effortlessly accelerate up steep hills using the full 1200 watts of SM motor power or need to stop in a hurry. (industry leading 203mm rotors ft & rr). He carries about every brand recognized as a leader in e-bikes and has many of them available for a trial ride. Highly recommended if you want unbiased and expert help in selecting an affordable and high quality ebike (the choices today are almost overwhelming and Gary only carries highly rated bikes so he has already simplified your selection process) and then riding the bikes that best fit your needs at his place to finalize your choice on the spot. Thanks again, Gary, for your low pressure approach to guide me to a great ebike that I never would have...
Read moreGreat little independent shop to buy from locally and the customer service is great. I purchased a bike here a year ago. I was close to making a purchase online when I came across this place. The prices match or beat what you will find on the internet. Also, you have the ability to test ride several different models and they are professionally assembled, compared to getting it shipped and arriving in a box. After a year, I had a problem with the battery on my bike. I took it to the shop and the owner took my bike for a ride. He agreed there was a problem with the battery. Without hesitation he swapped the battery out and gave me a replacement. God forbid if I had made a purchase online or elsewhere, the amount of hoops I would of had to jump through, waiting, shipping, customer service emails, etc., and who knows if they would have covered it. Very happy with the customer service. I highly recommend at least checking this place out...
Read moreThey told me I bought the E bike that came from a very good brand and it was a piece of crap. It’s almost the heaviest E bike on the market that’s named the lightweight and compact not to mention the weight of it and it’s very very very cheap mechanical brake system. We’re out extremely fast. I was told they were a good brand by the owners of this storage unit. Yes, storage unit company that you will buy a bike from not a warehouse or building I would not recommend taking their advice on anything if you plan on spending anything for adult or the long run I don’t know how they get away with saying they’re the biggest in Detroit when they’re not in Detroit and they’re out of a storage unit or if they’re having automated reviews like most websites would have published and only the good ones, etc.. I would definitely call ahead and ask where they’re located and what they’re...
