I took my $1,600 Movado watch here to get a simple battery replaced. Let me back up a bit by saying that a week prior to the visit at Sabre's, I first went to Chiccarine's Fine Jewelry right around the corner in Collegeville. I feel they have more modern options and better to do business with. When I brought my Movado in the gentlemen explained to me how the back of watch was a different seal compared to the typical Movado watch. It had four very tiny screws. It wasn't just a pop out backing. He explained to me that he felt uncomfortable replacing the battery specifically because he was scared that he was going to scratch the back of the watch. I told him I really appreciated his honesty and did not get the work done. Fast forward a week. I email Sabre's and specifically ask them if they can change the battery in my Movado watch. I expressed my concern with the backing and screws and even included a very clear picture of the back of my watch. I received the response: Hi Laura, Should not be a problem. Stop in, we will do it while you wait and Movado’s are $15.99. I go in to Sabre's and wait while the work is being done. Took maybe 15 minutes. I pay for the work and go home. Everything appears to be just fine. For whatever reason that evening I was showing my husband the watch and expressing my experience and he clearly points out that the back of my watch was scratched! Immediately I was like WHAT???? Remember this is the very first concern I addressed in my email to Sabre's and to the woman Kim that helped. I immediately looked at the picture I took a few days prior that I had emailed to Sabre's inquiring about the possibility of helping me and guess what? NOT ONE SCRATCH. My watch had NO marking on the back. I included a before and after picture. After this experience, I will not use or recommend Sabre's. You cannot label yourself a "fine jewelry" store if you do not do fine work. It's unacceptable. Next time I will pay whatever it takes to have Movado replace the battery. No wonder this service is $15.99. The pictures attached were literally taken...
Read moreThis is the first bad review I have ever written of any business, but enough negative things have happened to warrant it. Last April I came to Sabre's to buy an engagement ring. Long story short, everyone was very nice and worked with me on price etc to choose a ring. After that, everything went down hill. They said they would build the ring frame that I chose with a different diamond which sounded great. It took FIVE trips back and forth for them to get it right, this is not an exaggeration. Every single time I went there to pick it up, it was still messed up and badly enough to be seen with a naked eye, not even under a microscope. A couple of times the ring was just dirty. Finally, after the fifth time I pretty much gave up. I took the ring, even with it still being crooked because I didn't want to come back again.
This month, we decided to go back and get it cleaned because we wouldn't be charged since we bought it there. I was hesitant, but we went anyway. When they looked at it, they said that all of the prongs needed to be re-built because they were wearing down (after 10 months). They were ready to charge us for it (even though ring settings should last years), but after some discussion they agreed not to charge us. They also agreed to re-size it and it was still to be cleaned.
I'm not sure why I gave them the benefit of the doubt, maybe I am just an ignorant guy and know nothing about jewelry, but when I got it home, my fiance immediately noticed that there were blatant smudges all over the main diamond that can be seen with no microscope and that it hadn't been re-sized. It's astonishing to me that this place even functions at all. I have never struggled so much with any business....
Read moreI loved my experiences with Sabre’s. The minute I walked in the door, I was welcomed and greeted warmly like family. Stacey was so wonderful, helpful, AND PATIENT. I got engaged a month ago in September 2020 and I wasn’t even sure where to begin to pick out a ring. I didn’t know what size I wanted. What style stone, what style band and so many other details I wanted. She stayed within the budget we told her which is so important because I didn’t want someone who would push us into something we couldn’t afford just because I got starry eyed from looking at the whole showcase. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate how kind and patient she was and how she helped me decipher between the differences and narrow it down to my one true ring for me. I love it, love it, love it. I needed to have it set with a smaller basket and it was ready a week later. My fiancé said I nearly fell out of my chair when Stacey opened the box and showed me my ring. I was so in love with my fiancé all over again that I didn’t let him go and held him for five minutes straight. THAT’s the kind of experience I feel like a girl should have when she goes to pick out her ring! I look forward to my wedding day when I will be wearing the wedding ring I picked out during my visit as well. ...
