We went to find a power recliner for my mom and when we first got there, she sat in the first one closest to the entrance. As we were playing around with the controls, a salesman came over and showed us how the controls were actually a remote, and provided more information. He then asked us about our reasons for coming in. I explained that we needed a recliner, but that $1500 was way out of our price range. I said we were hoping to stay closer to $500 as the max. He shows us the way to where they had most all the recliners displayed and pointed out one with part of the features we wanted, but was around $700. As we are looking he was hovering and I personally hate that. I want the freedom to look, and when I need help, I will then ask, so I told him that we would look around and that I would come find him if we had questions. Thankfully he respected my request and went to his desk. As questions popped up, I went to him to ask and the only time he came over to us was if there was additional information regarding the questions I has asked him. I was rather frustrated by the fact that the store did not have any options in the price range that we had wanted to stick to. Mom decided that she really liked the first chair she sat in so we went back to look at it some more, which happened to be right by the salesman's desk. When mom sat down, he came over and explained the warranty information then returned to his desk. Mom and I discussed the differences between Lazy Boy and American Warehouse's warranty and found that Lazy Boys is definitely superior to anyone else's. Mom decided that she would splurge on herself and buy the chair. As I was doing the checkout, the salesman was telling me about some cool places I could take my mom for scenic drives that I was not aware of. In talking, we discussed where we were originally from and he was actually from a town very close to where my mom is from in Indiana, and his sister lives close to where we lived in Ohio. What a small world. He was very friendly and talkative and provided some great ideas of places to check out. When he pulled up the chair in the computer he found that the sales tag was wrong and the price was actually $1900 and some. I was like there is no way mom can pay that. He went and pulled the tag off the chair and said that since they priced it wrong, then they had to honor the displayed price, so mom saved $400 because of that. Because of the fact that the salesman respected my request of letting us just browse, and not constantly hovering over us or asking us a bunch of questions, and how helpful he was as I needed, it was a great experience. The only things that I don't like about Lazy Boy (that I found out during the checkout process) is that they don't offer any Veterans discount except on Veterans Day, and if you have the furniture for any period of time and decide that you don't like it for any reason, they will not take it back. Where American Warehouse will take it back, but they charge a restock fee, which makes sense. In my opinion, every single store should offer a Veterans discount. Our soldiers offer their lives to help keep us safe, so a discount is the least businesses could provide them. Overall, it was a great experience. The chair hasn't been delivered yet so I can't offer a review of their work...
Read moreI would like to start by saying that I have purchased many items from La-Z-boy, and have been a loyal customer for the past 10 years. Our initial purchase was great! Sales staff were extremely helpful and even got us a better deal than we had anticipated. On this visit we purchased a love seat, sofa, recliner and accent chair. The delivery team were courteous and mindful of our home. We cannot day enough good things about the delivery teams we have had the pleasure of working with. Our sofa and loveseat were, to say the least, very poorly constructed. We had the service team out multiple times to remedy the poor craftsmanship to no avail. The service rep informed us that the items were beyond repair and needed to be replaced. That process went smoothly and they credited us with the amount that we spent for the two items.
Then came the walking nightmare. Johnny was our sales associate and had contacted us stating that the funds were available and to come to the store to pick out a new set. We set up a specific time and date to meet her, as we live close to an hour away from the store, and she was not in despite scheduling an appointment with us. She had not passed on the information to anyone in the store so there was no one there that could help us, or even knew about our situation. (1st waste of time). Then we returned to the store on a day which we knew she was supposed to be in. We met with her and went through the showroom trying to find another set which we liked. The entire time she was complaining about how sick she is and that her doctor would not give her the medication that she needed (completely unprofessional). When we were unable to find anything that was for the same price as the set we previously purchased, we asked her what our options were. Instead of doing what most people in service do (help customers), she said that there is nothing she could do and that she would ask the owner if he would replace the set with another one we had picked out and that she would get back to us in a couple days. (2nd waste of time). We heard nothing from her for a week and decided to call her. She immediately got short with my wife when my wife asked what the owner had said and hung up the phone on her. My wife decided to go to the store to speak with her in person. My wife was attempting to find a solution for our problem and Johnny told her “I am not going to argue with you!” and walked away from my wife. (3rd waste of time and blatantly disrespectful). So I called her back and asked politely to speak with the manager. She initially refused, telling me that there was nothing anyone could do for us. I persisted and eventually spoke with Ben.
I expressed our deep dissatisfaction with Johnny the sales rep, and Ben and I came up with a solution. At no time was an apology given for the worst customer service experience we may have ever experienced. It is unfortunate that the situation transpired the way it did. I can honestly say that I will never buy another piece of furniture from the Colorado Springs store and I highly encourage other customers to take your hard earned money somewhere that customers...
Read moreI used to like lazy Boy because I could not find what I wanted anywhere else. I liked that I could customize with them. When we relocated we needed a smaller sectional. So we thought great we can just go buy a small end piece to replace our chaise. Then come to find out our fabric is discontinued. Well that is no good, so much for warranty work when you do not even sell my fabric any more. We then started looking at other furniture to just replace our entire sectional for something smaller and just didn't see anything that was like what we already had. So we decided to deal with the fact that our section is just a hair too big for our new space. We then called in a warranty on it since it is supposed to be a life time warranty. Come to find out that is not true. In order to have someone look at our almost $5,500 section we have to spend another $80 just for someone to look and it could be even more depending on what they need to fix. One of our recliners is loud and the arm is very flimsy makes a popping sound when you sit. Of course no one in the store told us we would have to spend extra to have repairs done they just put in the request and have someone from their warranty department call and tell you that it is going to cost you more on top of the almost $5,500 I have already spent. This is crazy to have spent as much as I have spent on a section that is not working properly. There is no way I am going to spend another dime for something that was supposed to be a life time warranty. And I almost purchased another sectional from them. I am so glad I did not now that I know that their warranty is a joke. I will not purchase another item nor refer another person to lazy boy. And I highly suggest you keep looking because at the end of the day the quality is not there for what you have to spend. I had them come out and look at the section also for the same kind of noise when I purchased my sectional and they said it would not be so noisy as we started using it that the parts needed to wear in since it was brand new. The sounds never got better. I feel like I am sitting on a $5,500 piece of junk and I am stuck with it. Keep on shopping anywhere else. Do not let the fact that the staff is nice con you into sending...
