Smallcakes Cupcakery and Creamery — Restaurant in Colorado Springs

I have been coming to SmallCakes since they first opened when the previous owner was Wendy. The cakes we received from her were amazing. My husband ordered a birthday cake for me a few weeks ago. My favorite cake is the wedding cake cupcake. They literally made him a 6 inch wedding cake for my birthday .First of all, why would he order a wedding cake when it was my birthday? It would have been ok if the cake wasn’t made so poorly. One of the roses was on the side of the cake. Whoever wrote the Happy Birthday Maria did not appear to be a professional baker as the writing was just sloppy. I didn’t feel it was worth $86. In the past I never paid more than $50-$60 for a cake there and I have purchased 10+ cakes . I sent an email to the owner expressing my disappointment. Her response was that they made the cake to my husband’s order and they charged him $70.33 , which included the custom designs. I’m not sure how four flowers equates to custom designs. However, she wanted to appease me by refunding me with $20 or four cupcakes. After finding out that our order was supposed to be $70.33 but they charged us $86.58, I told her I wanted a FULL refund. I do not like shops that charge almost $20 more than they should. I responded with a copy of our bank receipt showing the amount we paid. I told her I wanted a full refund. This cake was picked up on October 12th. There hasn’t been a refund to our account or an apology for overcharging us. I will NEVER recommend this shop to anyone. She doesn’t know how to run a business. I have reported this store . It’s illegal and fraud to charge someone an amount that’s not accurate. And in reading over the reviews, it appears to have happened before. The first cake is the most recent one that we just purchased. The others were from the past .. huge difference in...

*thank you for your response, I'm glad you looked into my "claims". There is no problem with there being 2 cupcakes left at 7pm, an hour before closing, which was accurate, your staff member said "there's two left..." and named the flavors. The main point of attention was the attitude. A little kindness does go a long way and being short and making a customer feel unwelcome is not kind. Im sorry that you are disappointed in the experience that customers are having, maybe I caught her at a bad time or a bad day. However, I am not fabricating anything as you make it sound. I gave an honest review of what happened. In hindsight I probably should have brought it to the managers attention privately and I will remove my review on principle of, im not a jerk. I just wanted to make it known the attitude of the employee was off putting, unwelcoming and not fitting for retail.

We showed up at 7pm and were told they had 2 cupcakes total. Ok, so I asked about ice cream and she said she's put them up, rolls her eyes, and said she can go get them though. I asked if they were closed, she responded that they close at 8.... in an hour. I told her we will just go to coldstone across the street. She laughed and said "whatever" I won't make someone do their job, especially when everything costs so much. Not worth my time to suffer someone...

I had honestly forgotten that I came by here and got a treat the last trip to the springs until we walked in tonight to kill time waiting on our table down the street.

I took one look at the setup and remembered EXACTLY where I was and I was so excited! I hadn't written it down in my place I have went so I was kicking myself trying to find the spot.

They were almost cleaned out because I came 15 minutes before closing. Their options are great for a quick fun dessert. Cupcakes are moist and baked fresh daily. The icecream is so creamy and good. They have cookies and cake balls as well!

I went for a 4 count classic vanilla cake ball cup to share with my sister before our dinner. Sweets are always good first LOL!

They did not upset me at all. Totally worth the sugar. Worth the carbs. And worth the money.

The atmosphere is so fun and it is very clean. Service is great and does well at helping you out deciding what you should try. The price is completely fair for this special kind of dessert bar.
