Read below my response to the owner's response - Had iPhone screen replaced by these folks in early December - placed the phone on a sticky pad face down in the car last week and when I lifted the phone off of the pad, the middle of the screen flexed outward and then when the sticky material released, the screen popped back in cracking the glass on the inside as well as busting the LCD material that is apparently part of the glass. I asked the OWNER about the warranty and he came up with every excuse in the book to honor the warranty - refused to provide me the manufacturer of the replacement glass that they use or the actual written warranty. He even tried to say that the glass broke because I dropped the phone.
This weekend, I took the phone to the the Apple Store in Augusta, GA. They typically do not work on iPhones that have been serviced by 3rd parties with 3rd party materials. The repair supervisor told me that one of the main issues with 3rd party screens is the adhesive materials that they use to hold the screen in place is inferior compared to the product used by Apple. The replacement cost was more than I paid at Mr. PC, but at least now I have a real warranty and not lip service.
And by the way, a personal note to the owner - I have also filed a complaint with the BBB - and by the way, this was not the first time that Apple has seen this issue with 3rd party materials and 3rd party installation labor.
Take your money and go to Apple and let the professionals do the job. Unfortunately for us in the Columbia, SC area, the Augusta store is the closest Apple Store.
Response to Owner Comment:
Unfortunately, I actually talked to the folks at Apple and confirmed what you noted (i.e. third party screens have defects including improper adhesives - which fully explains why the screen pulled away from the phone - contrary to your continued barbs that the phone must have been dropped - they also noted that if the phone had been dropped, the outside of the screen would have cracked and not the inside). There is only ONE resolution at this point - you or your business need to fully reimburse me the material and...
Read moreThey did good job fixing my fans but they told me that i needed a new charger and that it would cost 100 dollars. I decided to take it to a different place nearby my house instead, after buying a new charger ive bought before and worked in the past only to discover that didn't fix the problem. The different place i went to right away the man told me that my charger was fine and that the port was the issue. Well it will cost me another 100 bucks but atleast finally someone can fix it. The reason why i didn't buy the charger through mr pc is because they wanted to charge 100 dollars to order it in when i bought the same ones online myself in the past for only 55 dollars. I appreciate you fixing the fan but i hate that y'all told us to buy a new charger for no reason. I'm not gonna bother bringing it back to Mr pc either cause they might charge me another fee when they couldn't find the problem originally or had given me a false solution. I'm sure they would charge me diagnostic fee and the trip isn't worth it.
Response to owner: Never once did i hear the word port. I heard things that make no sense like giving a laptop a "CPU reflow", and saying my charger is "intermittent charging". I've been told that neither of which are a thing. Maybe you meant to say charging port but you said charger. Also the place I'm at now doesn't charge a diagnostic fee... I left two stars because whether you said port or charger you didn't explain it well enough to my grandmother, so she had no idea what you were talking about, so she thought you said to buy a new charger. Maybe you told her port but i never heard that, if she left confused and didn't know the difference between the two that shouldn't be her fault, she's not supposed to be an expert, it's up to you to explain it well enough.
UPDATE: The fans replaced broke down within 2 months. This place is a joke and I stand by that statement till the day I die. Waste of...
Read moreI never rate businesses, I even try to reach a solution, but this place deserves less than a star. I had my laptop in for a new battery, they had it for about a week or so, installed a new one. Great, had it for 3 months and it completely fails. I go back and ask them about warranty and what we can do to fix it. The guy there says to leave it and he will check to find a OEM battery, which was what they said they installed. I get a call hours later and I am told that he "thinks" that since I have an "aftermarket" charger, that my battery failed. I guess the diagnostic the first time around they didn't realize this? The charger was purchased at Best Buy and has worked for over 2 years without any issues...When my laptop does the diagnostic test on itself it shows "not OEM battery". I contacted the "owner" to no avail. But of course, I can spend another $250.00 to fix it, you must be crazy. Nobody knows anything about any warranty, so I guess there isn't one. I went to pickup my laptop at the Harbison location and the person there was extremely rude, he continued to talk over me, was telling me that Its my fault that the laptop battery failed, to not trust best buy to purchase a charger. That person has absolutely NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS. I will never take anything back to this "repair" shop, they clearly can't repair anything, but they will take your money and run. I have never been treated worse than at this place. Before thinking about taking your items to this "establishment"...
