I've been to several 2&C's in the last couple of years and Columbus is quickly becoming one of the worst. Compared to other locations, they are overpriced. Several TV series, available at Walmart for $9.96 or Amazon for less, were $16-20 with several ticking up to $30. Hardback books, used, were practically priced like new. The last couple of times that we have made the trip, we almost walked out empty-handed. After an hour+ drive, that's not what I want to happen. I refuse to take trade-in to this location as the last time, it didn't look like they went went through the box at all, just two things on top taken and given about $10 store credit. I took the same stuff to another location and they took almost everything and gave over $50 credit. They told me it would be several hours before they got to my items and I told them, "That's cool" as we were going to eat and check out a few other stores. I got a text less than an hour later that my order had been processed. Employees weren't very friendly that day either. I'll just drive to Dothan or Hoover from now on.
Eta: several visits later, when in the area and we still are leaving empty handed most of the time. Book prices steady going up. Found several books for way cheaper in Goodwill in the parking lot over. This location is bad about leaving original price stickers on things. Like Imma pay $13.95 for a book that has a $5.99 Ollie's sticker on it or $8.95 for a $5.95 clearance book from BAM, especially when I ended up grabbing the book from my local BAM at their...
Read moreWent into the store as I always do with my wife and kids to buy them some books, cashier offers me a magazine subscription and says I can get 3 free magazines of my choice and after I would be asked if I wanted to subscribe to each. I said sure because free magazines and started the process only to find out that it is a automatic subscription according to the bottom receipt. The clerk had no idea and apologized and said he would try and cancel my sign up.
I did tell me wife and she told me they had made the same offer to her months ago and never said anything of the sort just 'free 3 magazines, no strings' I used my recipt to call the hotline for these magazines and got a Indian call center that informed me that she not only had a subscription but she also had to pay for the 3 free magazines after recieving them all.(which she never did, but they insist they shipped em) I informed them their service was not properly explained at 2nd and Charles and they 'cancelled' any charges but we will see what happens there.
Called the2nd and Charles store manager after I finished with the magazine hotline and informed him of what happened and how I was being stuck with a $70.00 bill and got a sorry and he would take care of it. But here I am stuck with a bill and am writing this to warn people of the 3 free magazine offer, the vendor will charge you for the magazine after you recieve all 3 despite the words free magazines from...
Read moreThe manager Summer is rude to customers and employees. When an employee could not find a barcode rather than helping she proceeded to bark at her employees in front of customers and was very disrespectful. When I first asked for help she said "He is such an idiot, the barcode is right in front of him" She refused to look into any of the customer eyes, and made me feel like an idiot for trying to purchase an item and have the donation go towards the Trevor Project. She seems to be disgusted to even speak to me, I do not know if this is because I asked for help or because I am purchasing a Pride item. Then while I waited to buy the item to donate another customer tried to buy something and the computer froze and the manager again stated the employee was a fool and should know better. I have never left a google review before let alone a negative one but this manager needs to check her attitude and learn how to treat her employees with kindness and with at-least basic respect let alone treat her customers better. I am appalled and feel gross leaving the store from shame and uneasiness. I hope Chris- the AMAZING, KIND, SINCERE, employee who was cashing me out finds a better employer because no one deserves to be treated like less...
