So this place has great reviews, and I dont know if we just had a bad experience or if it's always this way, but man, the food was basic at best.
First, the good news is the service was fine, nothing great, but she was attentive to the table and kind. Also, the burger was okay as well, just an average burger, but for the money, it could have been much better. Also they have two burgers on the menu one that is called the half pound burger, but the other burger is also a half pound burger and the only difference between the two is one is seasoned with a "special seasoning". It was a burger, nothing else. The menu just didn't make sense.
On to the reason I gave this place 2 stars. My wife got a pizza that was actually terrible. It was the Greek pizza, and it was borderline burnt with way too many dried tomatoes! WAY TO MANY. It was so bad that we actually had to have it replaced, and the staff was super willing to replace the meal, but it was just horrible. And we have not once sent something back even when it was gross, so that tells you.
The other reason this gets two stars is that the pizza we had replaced, we decided to get a pepperoni pizza to go because maybe it was just a fluke. Sadly, it was worse than a pizza you could buy from the store in the frozen section. The crust is the main problem, just chewy cardboard and bland
I really have no clue why this place is ranked so high. But all around, I'm not impressed and just not worth the money. And i would have taken pictures but really imagine chucky cheese without the games and lights. And then imagine a regular decent burger and a pizza you bought from walmart, and you're pretty much there, but you spent 40...
Read moreSpeakeasy used to be fabulous. Now? They keep the phone off the hook so that you can’t place an order by phone, they close for every single holiday, they have started skimping on food. I ordered a club last week- plenty of lettuce- a bit of bacon, a bit of ham, a bit of Turkey…. So basically a mostly lettuce sandwich. I order the chicken strip salad a lot. Sometimes there is a lot of lettuce, sometimes not, sometimes tomatoes and cucumbers, sometimes not. Sometimes a lot of chicken strips, sometimes not. I have been a frequent Speakeasy customer for 35 years, and I’m done with them. I hate it, but they need better management. I’ll go across the street for a salad and if I want a good sandwich I’ll go to Panera or Jason’s. I try really hard to support local restaurants- but I can’t support them anymore.
Your answer seems to prove my point about the customer service. I’m certain you can stand one less patron. And yes, other restaurants are happy to take my business, but I certainly appreciate your blessing.
(I called for 45 minutes ( about 5:30-6:15 on a Sunday) straight last night and it was busy the entire time, and when I went to pick up my food at another restaurant - I rode by - not one car in the pick up line. It’s hard to believe that the phone wasn’t off the hook) I can totally see why your employees would think that was alright based on your answer to me. We aren’t friends, you are a business. We shouldn’t need a heart to heart for customers to have quality food...
Read moreI've been a regular here since the 80's when they had a steak on the menu. I still wish they had a steak on the menu. I really love this place, it's local, it's neighborhood, it's friendly. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is for two things.
One, the back room was 18+ and I had to wait until all my babies were over 18 before we could eat back there away from all the other little kids that run around, yell, etc. That lasted for decades but now they let kids in the back room so there's no space just to be around adults anymore.
Reason two is after a remodel they took the jukebox out and never put it back. That was the only place in town I could play music from bands I liked because it was an internet juke box. Now, there's NOTHING. I can't understand why the owner/management doesn't realize how awkward and strange a bar is without MUSIC? The best part was with that juke box you could pick what you wanted to hear, Country, Rock, Jazz, whatever. Anything! Now it's nothing. It's so awkward now my wife is not wanting to go back. A loud table of guys drinking is the loudest thing in the whole back room, or a loud guy at the bar, or a loud kid, because there's no bed of music to take the focus away.
Food-fantastic, service-tops, people-awesome. My favorite place for a local hang out. It fits like a nice old jacket. Please bring the...
