College Traditions — Local services in Columbus

This location was the only highlight of my visit to Columbus. The staff, the ambiance, and even the patrons inside all made me smile, feel welcomed, and were so positive. I will give you all a little background of my trip to Columbus. I flew out no issues. Arrived and everything was grand. But leaving was hell. First my rental car was stolen from Airport Drive by Homewood Suites Hilton. Then my plane delayed 4+ hours out of Columbus Airport. But I didn't complain at all because I checked a bag full of Ohio State merch! I have been a fan since I was little and this was my first visit ever on Ohio State grounds. I finally made it home after 12 grueling hours of travels and delays. I decided to open and share my families gifts with them the next day.

Day 2 - I clear my luggage and have my OH-IO GEAR! Some light finally!! But then I get to the bottom and discover the two Lokai bracelets I bought for my boys are missing. My bag was never opened by me once I packed it. It was opened however by Columbus Airport TSA for a random inspection. I'll let the readers do what they want with that information.

Why College Traditions deserves 6 stars - 1.) The young lady to answer the phone actually was patient enough to hear my story 2.) They were able to remedy my situation and actually shipped me two replacements (I am so thankful)

This team not only made me feel appreciated while in their store, they made me feel appreciated even after I left it. I have a bad taste in my mouth for Columbus and won't be visiting it again any time soon. If I ever do return it will be to show appreciation to this establishment and for them showing me that good people are still around. You all will never understand what your little gesture did for me. But I hope this post can give you a small look even though how grateful I am to your team doesn't even begin to be measured with words.

I briefly visited College Traditions, at 286 W. Lane Ave. in the "University District" neighborhood of Columbus, on 11-19-2023.

My plan had been to visit College Traditions for a few minutes and then to eat next door at Varsity Club Restaurant and Bar [at 278 W. Lane Ave.] but that restaurant had been too crowded right then because of an unknown-to-me basketball game several hours later [against Western Michigan University beginning at 4:00 p.m.].

I had intentionally avoided a home OSU football game the previous day [against Minnesota with a kick-off time of 4:00 p.m.] but had not even considered the possibility that there would be a home basketball game the following day.

For many years, I had worked in the Commercial Art Department of the former Long's Book Store [at 1836 N. High St.]. Long's had sold OSU textbooks, OSU-themed merchandise, and other items; it had been great to be able to see, while at College Traditions, the OSU-themed merchandise that is now available more than twenty years after Long's had closed.

I spoke briefly with a College Traditions staff member about the nearby Conrad's College Gifts store [at 316 W. Lane Ave.] that I now know had moved to Easton Town Center and then had closed. In the same space at 316 W. Lane Ave. is a new OSU-themed business named Rally House Lane Avenue.
