What was supposed to be a fun wedding experience turned into an absolute nightmare here! I went to pick up my wedding dress following alterations but it was still too large, was cut very uneven, had the wrong bustle style, and the zipper was not working (even if I was not in it). I was told by my seamstress the zipper would not zip because my waist was "too thick and heavy." (Another seamstress later showed me that a bead was stuck in the zipper track and it was not due to my body). The seamstress refused to do the new measurements for the corrections needed because this appointment was supposed to be for "pick up dress only" and required me to drive an hour back for another appointment at a later date specifically scheduled for "alterations"...even though I had the dress on and she was working with me in that moment. During this next scheduled appointment, I had to wait over an hour and my dress seemed to be lost! There was minimal communication other than being asked 3 separate times if I was sure that I didn't have my dress! When I went to go pick up my dress after what was supposed to be the final alteration, the dress was still cut unevenly and the seamstress had given the wrong bustle again (literally nothing had changed and yet I was charged over $100!). When I pointed out this was not the agreed upon bustle, she tried to make me schedule another appointment to come back for a fitting and blamed someone else for doing the bustle incorrectly. All in all, it took 5 alteration appointments, with an accumulated 10 hours of driving back and forth, being charged extra for bustle points that were incorrect, and a whole lot of extra stress for me to get my wedding dress altered...only for me to be to feel incredibly uncomfortable and insulted by remarks and the treatment I received. This was a...
Read moreMy shopping appointment was fantastic! The saleswoman took time to help me find dresses that I liked and recommended others based on my feedback. I left feeling like a million dollars.
My first fitting was pretty good. The seamstress was polite and engaging. I kept repeating that my bust didn't feel right - I have a large chest and though my dress had sleeves I still felt unsupported. She pinned up the sleeves and added cups but, I still felt loose and over exposed (dress is a deep v). This didn't really seem to address the issue but I thought it might once everything was sown into place.
When I picked my dress up - I still felt very uncomfortable about the bust and neckline. My chest was far too on display and the fabric did not lay against my skin and you could see straight down the front of my dress. The seamstress (different person from my first fitting) suggested adding a second set of cups which only made the fabric gap more. She stated that the sleeves couldn't be taken up anymore and I left very upset because the dress I fell in love just didn't fit right.
I ended up going to Original Alterations for a second opinion. Within 10 minutes the seamstress pinned up the neckline which added support and allowed the fabric to sit against the skin and I felt so much better. She also suggested cutting down the arm holes as they pulled up pretty high once the shoulders were taken up.
TLDR - Great appointment to find my dress but unless you can tell the seamstresses exactly what you want changed during your fitting they don't seem to be able to...
Read moreI had a heartbreaking experience with the alterations department and floor staff at this store on Friday, August 9th.
After multiple failed attempts to reach anyone through David Bridal's Corporate Customer Service, I left a review here of my experience. Honestly, I did not think it would garner any attention from anyone at the company - I honestly just did not want other customers - especially another Bride - to experience the devastating situation I did.
I came to the store August 9th to pick up my wedding gown, after having alterations done. I purchased my wedding dress here, so I thought it made sense to have my alterations done here. However, the alterations were done incorrectly, leaving me with a dress that didn't fit correctly and couldn't be given a "band-aid" fix.
I was completely devasted and left the store in tears. All I could think of was that my wedding was in two weeks, and I was now without a dress.
Then, Ayanda, the store manager reached out to me. She had seen my review, and wanted to make the situation right.
I appreciate Ayanda's kindness and empathy. She refunded the alteration charges, and was able to have a new dress ordered for me. I do not feel comfortable with having more alterations done by the David's Bridal Team, so I will be having that done elsewhere.
I am thankful for Ayanda's initiative to reach out to me to help, and to ensure I would not face my wedding day without a dress. She really make an effort to turn this situation around - the company is very lucky to have such an empathetic and kind person...
