Exquisite Design Salon — Local services in Columbus

On April 16th, around 3:15 pm, I walked into Exquisite Design Shop. However, the two Caucasian nail technicians didn't acknowledge me. No greetings, no smiles, no offer of help. When I asked about walk-in appointments, both said they were fully booked, assuming I meant immediately. I clarified I meant around 5 pm, after work.

I asked about pricing and got different quotes. The woman by the window said $50 plus $10 for gel, while the lady in the back said $45 plus extra for gel polish. When I questioned the difference, the woman by the window claimed she and another technician charged the same, while another charged $35, with a snide comment about being "below standard."

Later, the lady in the back texted another technician to check availability for 5 pm, without offering to take my number. Instead, she suggested walking to my office to inform me. I declined, stressing that money wasn't the issue; it was the vibe and professionalism.

I shared the experience with my employees, one African-American and one Caucasian, both shocked. To confirm, my Caucasian employee visited and was warmly greeted by the Caucasian technician, given assistance, and a business card, highlighting the contrast.

The service and environment here is nice but for me that’s where it stops. I got the lash extensions and they were poorly done. She was putting way to much glue on and my eyes became very irritated during the service. After I was done they did look okay. I left and within five minutes I had to come back because one of the lashes was coming off! She kindly fixed it no charge of course. I had my lashes for 3 days she said they last 2 weeks, they were already starting to come off so I just took them all out myself. Long story short, I needed to get my nails, feet and facial wax done bc it was the last day of production in my school and I was also starting my 1st day at Urban One Radio Station. So I called a few places and drove all over town looking for a place that accepts walk-ins, I had no luck but KATHI at Exquisite Design went above and beyond to try to get me a nail tech, she texted me even after I found a place on my own just to see if I had resolved!
