PSA on Furniture Purchases from Value City Furniture
šDO NOT PURCHASE FROM Value City Furniture!!! š
We purchased a couch for Em and her roommate on 6/28/2024. It is a sectional with pull out bed. Very cute and apartment appropriate. We were given a delivery date of 8/9/2024 which was perfectly aligned with the move in date.
We received a call on 8/6 to verify the address for delivery. On 8/8, they called to say there were manufacturing delays and the next delivery date would be late August/Early September.
The next call we received was the couch could be delivered on October 5th. However, Em and her roommate would be out of town and we asked to move the date to the 4th. They said fine but delivery time would be between 7 am and 11 am. Both Em and her roommate would be at class during this timeframe. We requested to have the delivery date moved to 10/12. The delivery confirmation people said No problem.
We then got a call on 10/9 to once again confirm the address. We confirmed. On 10/11, we were informed that the couch would not be delivered until 11/28 because THEY REALLOCATED THE COUCH TO SOMEONE ELSE!
No person ever informed us that was their policy. They said delivery was refused-which it was not, and so the couch moved to the next person. Apparently, they have a policy that if you do not take delivery within 72 hours, they move to the next person. We were not advised of said policy at any time during purchase, calls to confirm, or the call to request moving the date of delivery. Value City Furniture states they do not āstockā furniture in their warehouses because they donāt have room. (A multimillion dollar company with multiple warehouses does not stock furniture š¤ Okayā¦).
I called corporate and was told we would have a couch - which is paid for - on 10/23.
Same process, all to confirm. Two days later - nope. The new date is 11/9. So, we receive no calls this week to confirm the address.
My husband calls today. Ready for thisā¦.? DECEMBER 15th!!!
I am so frustrated and angry. I called corporate AGAIN and said at this point, I donāt care where the couch is shipped from in the US, it needs to be delivered as promised and on Value Cityās dime.
Apparently, they canāt do that either. Their āoffersā were to choose a new couch at a similar price (which does not provide the same amount of seating OR a sleeper) or they would give us $200.
6 MONTHS and you want to downgrade our furniture or offer a peanut credit???
Please share this EVERYWHERE and save yourself and your friends the frustration. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM VALUE CITY FURNITURE!!!
Also, open to any lawyers that may want to...

I purchased a table with Value City Furniture (VCF) in JUNE. I received the table with a scratch on top of it. Note to keep in mind I paid the company to set up this table for me upon arrival. They deliver and assemble.
Heres the timeline of stress and annoyance I had to go through. -end of june: Ordered table -2weeks later: Arrives with scratch on the surface of the table. Notified the company same day. They scheduled a tech to come out to assess the damage. -2weeks later: Tech assesses damage says its not an easy fix, the table top must be replaced. The tech notifies the company of the resolution. -2weeks later(september): I get notified that the table top was delivered at 7 am in the morning. Keep in mind this company comes in and assembles. I paid extra for this. Anywho, the table top wasn't delivered they just marked it delivered. I called 0they stated they didn't have the table top in stock and had the base of the table scheduled for delivery instead and that I needed to reschedule. -3weeks later(october): New table top arrives. They come in and disassemble the old table top. As they are replacing the new one back onto the base of the table they show me that the new one arrived with a scratched on it. Told me they would take photos and notify for reschedule of the new table, in which I took my own as well. They left the new scratched table top on and left.
All the debris from the unpackaging of the table was left in my yard. Screws were left for me to find on my rug. Which happened the first time the table was delivered as well, I just didn't bother mentioning it because "eh whatever its an easy pick up"
Anyways a few days go by and they never called. I called and it was like brand new news to the company. They started to go down the same route "we can schedule a tech to come out to assess the damage, and take appropriate action." In which of course I am upset and replied. "No. I would like another option even a partial refund to settle this so I don't have to spend another 3 months to get this issue resolved. They put me on hold and returned with a 10% refund.
I dont know about you, but me, I spent 2 grand for a brand new table not one with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI should have known better. Terrible customer service.
I have repeatedly reached out, and each employee I speak with acts as though your company dropping the ball multiple times is my fault. They are rude and condescending.
The latest issue was with the delivery. After breaking the cheap plywood couch trying to get it into our house, they repeatedly tried to hussle $50 out of my daughter when we had already paid for in-house delivery. They stated they could take the pillows off, and it would fit for $50 extra . Then they left the couch on my porch in the rain when we refused to pay $50 extra. After my family moved the couch inside, we realized its made with cheap plywood, and the delivery guys left after they broke it.
Each rep I speak with gives me the run around. We called, explained the issues, and requested a full refund. We were told that in 48 hours, someone would call back. They never did.
We again reached out and given the run around at first, being told we needed to bring the couch back to VCF for a refund. Then, the rep stated it was against policy for the delivery drivers to request more money for pillow removal.
After sending the pictures of the damaged couch, she agreed to have the couch picked up a week later! I was also told I can't get a refund until the day after they pick up the couch, and I would need to reach back out for a refund. I said, "Fine, you won't refund the couch until you have it." I want the refund for everything else so I can go purchase furniture as this order was originally placed 01/22/24. We also paid for delivery, a protectection plan and a chair that they are telling us would possibly be delivered 3 months from the order date but they can't actually guarantee when it will be delivered. She refused to refund anything but the chair and ignored my request for a refund breakdown.
Value city, you need to train your employees better! Every time I talk to someone, it's a different answer. I want my full refund as promised by your employees multiple times. It shouldn't be this hard to order and receive furniture I paid...
