Grandview Mercantile — Local services in Columbus

I would give 0 if I can. I visited the store twice and bought several “gold” pin sticks. The first time I bought 3. When I buy them, I buy them from a case that saying they are either 10k, 14k(didn’t mention gold plate or overlay). I got them tested at a jewelry store and one pin is not gold. The next day I went to their store to return the one that is not gold. The guy was nice and apologized. I can feel I was respected and probably it’s just an accident. So I pick another three pins. I asked the store to test it to see if it’s gold again. It seems one piece is not gold but the other two are 10k and 18k. So I bought the other two. Again, I tested them at a jewelry store using both machine and acid. The 18k one is definitely not 18k but rather 10k gold plated. I was disappointed and came back to return it. The WOMAN was so rude. She told me they will not sell things to me again since it’s my second time to return. But it is not my fault. It’s their responsibility to test, organize, clarify things. She didn’t apologize but rather blame me on returning. I am so sad it’s happening in Columbus and in a such great store. I told her if it’s not gold or not solid gold, you have to clarify it. She replied OKAY and told me when they mention gold it’s can be gold plated. They how can we trust on the other valuable pieces?? So rude and I will not do business...

Well I can’t say this place isn’t a real local gem, albeit a bit pricey, although when we compare quality and material and contrast it to modern vendors; it’s a long step above them all... What to find at Grandview Mercantile you ask? Everything mostly, it’s a good blend of retro and mid century meets fine antiques and quirky furniture and fixtures. Plenty of eccentric art and upper class and modern arts all the same, we can blanket that sentiment over the whole of the stores offerings and call is a meld of classes of tastes and periods. You might even walk around simply for a to do, and some lovely conversation. It’s fun to participate in Columbus growing community and offerings and simply feel at home. This is a good addition and edition to and for the ever growing central Ohio spirit... My only critique is, I, we are a tattooed couple, we do not convey a traditional energy of wealth but what we convey isn’t your concern. All patrons are equals, and I believe staff may or may not need a culture refresher course. I as a local guide also own two thriving business of great reputation. You never know who might drop the big bucks! Or a bad...

Much of the furniture in my house is from the Mercantile Company. As a kid, I remember when it started on Grandview Ave in the old location and thinking "I want everything in this store". Fast forward many years, I have beautiful quality furniture (Castle Oak dining room set, hall mirror, oriental rugs, Drexel heritage bed, many lamps, and Edwardian sofa). This is the first place that I recommend to people searching for quality furniture at the fraction of the price for new. For example, my Jacobean dining room set new would be over $10K but I managed to get it for $1800 for eight chairs, table, sideboard and liquor cabinet. It seems that I find things there that I'm not looking for. Once I was looking for a rug, and I found my dining room set. Then I was looking for lamps and I found a mirror. The people who work there really know their stuff too and help you find exactly what you are looking for. If they don't have it, chances are it will come it eventually. You can't beat the prices either...very reasonable for the quality items...
