Hannah almost gave me a heart attack. Hannah stereotyped me, was talking rude & condescending to me & jeopardized my health. I have been in situations in the past & she definitely was stereotyping me. Trust me, growing up in a small town with not even 3% minorities in school, I know when the stereotyping occurs in conversations.
My heart rate was at 180bpm & she continued to tell me do not stop, stay on the treadmill & to push myself. She will not tell me what to do with my life or jeopardize my health. My daughter already has one dead parent, she didn’t need to become an orphan at 12 years old.
I didn’t want a heart attack. I was not the only person in the red zone, but she pushed other people to continue too. My life is more important to me, than to “push myself” as Hannah told me & the class. I’m a personal trainer, I’d never tell someone to keep going when I could visually see their heart rate was 180bpm & saying their heart, need a break.
Hannah told me to continue to work out with my heart rate at 180bpm. I’d give her a negative 5 stars. Poor manager. Failed to realize I’m a personal trainer, I own my own business as a personal trainer, as well as in school studying cyber security & training for natural body competitions w my previous Director of Fitness.
Hannah even left the class while coaching, to come to the door of the waiting area & tell me that Orangetheory wasn’t for me, while the front desk guy told me it takes 5-6 classes for people to get accustomed to their level of training & my heart rate dropped fast, he can see with the numbers...
Read moreI’ve been with Orangetheory Fitness Clintonville for about a month now, and I’m so glad I finally gave it a try! I was hesitant at first. I’ve never been a gym person and have always hated weightlifting. But I had heard great things about OTF, especially the Clintonville location, and I was drawn to the idea of a supportive, nonjudgmental community where people of all fitness levels are welcomed. I also love tracking progress, and OTF makes that super easy and motivating.
From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed. Paul and Brooke took the time to show me around, answer all my questions, and were very transparent about what to expect. Jack was incredibly helpful in helping me choose the membership package that best fit my schedule—something I really appreciated as a beginner.
The coaches I’ve had so far have all been fantastic. The classes are definitely tough, especially the first one, which felt a little overwhelming, but Coach Hannah was so supportive and guided me through the fast-paced workout. Coach Tasha’s feedback has been crucial—she knows how to push you in the best way. And shout-out to Coaches Lindsay and Camryn, who bring such great energy to every class!
I honestly never thought these types of classes would be for me, but I’m really enjoying them so far. If you’re on the fence, especially if you're not a “gym person,” I highly recommend giving OTF...
Read moreA few years ago I went into my first Orange Theory for my free class and did not end up joining as the vibe was off and unwelcoming. Fast forward to April of this year, I tried another free class at OTF Clintonville and I have not left since! Not only does the staff make working out fun and relevant with current playlists, but they reiterate that it is YOU VS. YOU! They push YOU to do YOUR best while not comparing you to the person running a 5 min mile next to you. I started out at a 12:04 mile and while I have not lost any weight (bc I have gained muscle), I shaved 2 minutes off of that time. The staff here is VERY encouraging and supportive, knowing that there are much more victories out there than the scale dropping. This is the most positive gym I have ever been to and does wonders for my physical and mental health.
The staff at this location is also very understanding of injuries and mental health. They are not in it for just the money. I have only been here since April and I have already had to pause my membership once due to covid and the studio manager made that...
