Don't order online for delivery from Cornerstone. They messed up my order, so after they told me that it was MY responsibility to call the courier and explain the situation to THEM, which doesn't make sense because it was the restaurant's fault, I talked to three different people (one of which I presumed to be the manager, but I'm not sure) and none of them seemed to understand how to handle the situation. Finally, they offered to redeliver it. I asked them to throw a pair of chopsticks in the bag at least five times (the first time I ordered and again when I asked them to redeliver the correct order), which they didn't. I can handle a restaurant messing up my order or forgetting to give me utensils/napkins, but it was obvious that they simply weren't listening to me. I'm sure they're happy that I didn't bother calling again.
The food is decent. I used to eat there frequently. It's a shame that they don't value...
Read moreCornerstone Deli and Cafe is a small friendly restaurant in south Clintonville [which is anything south of North Broadway] where I eat whenever I am in the area.
I had eaten there recently [7-16-2018] and had ordered an "Italian sub" sandwich [which I typically order whenever I am there].
However, I had noticed yesterday, while reading their extensive menu that is hand-painted behind the ordering counter [as well as printed on laminated menus that customers may study more closely if they wish], that their menu includes a large variety of "rice bowls" that one would typically not expect to find in that type of restaurant.
If their north dining room is crowded, Cornerstone Deli and Cafe has a south dining room [with fewer decorations on the walls] that is accessible via a hallway that connects what I am certain had previously been two separate businesses. The south dining room is also the route to...
Read moreCornerstone deli is a nice local business that serves an odd combination of asian food and deli sandwiches.
They have a slew of nice sandwiches, some that are quite unique, including the one i ordered (the Eli Prize). I was quite impressed with my sandwich, especially with my choice of bread, the asiago bagel it was served on. I also ordered the potato salad and enjoyed it quite a bit. My food was nice and filling (if only a bit salty due the pastrami and salami on my sandwich).
While the sandwich was very good, my wife’s tempura bowl was not tempura style fried (rather just breaded and deep fried) which disappointed her.
Overall As a small business, this deli is delightful and a delicious sandwich shop. Just bear in mind that the asian food on offer is not the most authentic, but still...
