I’ve been to Third and Hollywood many times over the years and it is tried and true. I always come here for a special event, a business dinner or a birthday because the quality of the food is reliable and the service is generally great. The ambiance is also comfortable, it’s not pretentious but still nice and upbeat.
The restaurant offers valet parking for $5, definitely use this as it can be a pain to find parking in the area!
Tonight we started with the cheddar biscuits- a must! These are sometimes free or discounted during happy hour and they are incredible (but everything here is really good), I usually only get an order of 3 ($5) to save room for other things!
We also got a house made ginger ale (very good with a nice amount of ginger) an aerol spritz and a brut champagne with dinner. Alcohol is roughly $12 a glass, the ginger ale was $5.
The Little Gem Caesar ($14) is incredible, dressed perfectly with big chunky croutons which are to die for!
For mains I often get the chicken ($34), it is always juicy and it’s served with croutons (just as delicious as with the Caesar salad) and arugula and the bitterness really balances out the dish. My dining partner got the Hanger Streak ($47) which has a delicious marinated and a tasty bean/corn dip on the side.
For dessert they always give complimentary small cookies. I always look forward to these. They are a little salty but so good and just a small bite. We also ordered the pot de crème ($12) which was silky, smooth and a little salty too- really well balanced especially with the homemade whip crème!
Overall an incredible meal, will definitely return again and again.
Came back June 2024 for a business lunch very excellent service and food and the patio was open. Gotta get the biscuits!
Came back May 2025 for a business dinner. Service is even better than before. Ordered the same classic dishes which were all excellent. Got the seasonal strawberry shortcake and it was delicious, as well as the pit de crème (which is one of my favorite desserts...
Read moreThe restaurant is nicely appointed and feels modern, yet cozy. Often though, it’s too loud.
Items on the dinner menu are generally of good quality, but nevertheless overpriced-especially the $19 Fish Sandwich, $19 Vegetarian Mixed Grill and $26 Mussels entree.
The Pork Chop ($33) is indeed “righteous,” but it should be listed as a special, not a menu item. Indeed, the restaurant has been out each of the last three times I’ve visited, despite my having called in advance of my latest trip. (In fairness, the item description does say “limited avaiIability,” but all the more reason to run it as a special).
Wine prices are also high: 3.5-4 oz of Gloria Ferrer sparkling wine is $10, about what the restaurant pays for 750ml. The list by the bottle features several excellent choices, among them wines from Elio Altare, Storybook, Felsina, Aubry, and Lioco, albeit at robust markups over retail.
Service is lacking. Upon my last visit, one server read us the specials, but couldn’t tell us if the salmon dish we asked about was comprised of Atlantic or Pacific salmon. And neither he nor the next server (from whom we ordered) told us about the pork chops being unavailable until after we had placed our order and our appetizers had arrived, saying he “hadn’t been informed.” (Perhaps the last few orders were reserved for more important guests.)

Read moreFirst of all, allow me to preface my comments by saying that Third and Hollywood is one of our "go-to" local restaurants for a nice dinner and we've never been disappointed.
Now to brunch....
My wife and I decided to try Third and Hollywood for brunch this past Saturday. We arrived at 11:30 and the restaurant was wide open and we were promptly seated.
We began with Mimosa's....a good start...then ordered our meals.
My wife ordered the fish sandwich - Barramundi? The portion was fairly generous but overly salted and the sandwich was delivered with onions which my wife specifically asked to be omitted.
I ordered the steak & eggs with fingerling potatoes and asparagus....sounds great, right? Upon arrival, 6 "puny" pieces of a nondescript meat were buried under 2 eggs and onion straws. I asked the waiter about this and he told me that this was a four-ounce portion. NO WAY!! When I complained about the portion size, the waiter arranged for another portion of steak to be delivered to me; the portion size of the replacement was more representative of four ounces but arrived well after I had completed the balance of my meal.
The final coup de grâce was the arrival of the bill. The lower portion of the bill suggests appropriate tips at the 15%, 18% and 20% levels. While I usually tip on the subtotal before taxes, I calculated the recommended tips based on the total INCLUDING taxes. Even in this case, the "recommended" tip exceeded the calculation amount by more than $1 at each break point. This seems to me to be a bit "opportunistic" on the part of the restaurant so,...
