I went to the PokƩmon Legends: Z-A midnight release event at GameStop (October 15th/16th), and it honestly turned into a pretty traumatic and embarrassing experience for me.
The event description said: āJoin us for a midnight release! Pick up your copy at midnight and get a free exclusive PokĆ©mon tote bag (limit one per customer).ā I completely misunderstood what āpick upā meant and I thought it was an open event where you could buy the game at midnight, not that you needed to have preordered it beforehand.
When I got there, the employee told me I needed a receipt to get in. He wasnāt rude, but the situation was humiliating. I had shown up excited and ready for the release, only to be turned away in front of others. It really caught me off guard and left me feeling anxious and embarrassed.
Iām giving three stars instead of one because I understand the staff member was just following the rules. Still, I wish GameStop would word these events more clearly. Adding something simple like āPreorder Pickup Onlyā could help avoid this kind of misunderstanding, especially for people who are new to how these midnight events work.
This experience honestly shook my confidence about going to future GameStop events or even buying from them. Until things change, Iāll probably stick to the Best Buy that's close by, where Iāve had friendlier and clearer...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI shop here all the time but today was an above average experience. I preordered Far Cry 4 with my new gamestop credit card that still hasn't been sent to me and the guy helped me tremendously as well as his manager by calling 3+ phone numbers so I could get my information and buy the game. He kept apologizing for being transferred by the customer service but I apologize for taking up his day. At first I was disappointed and started to walk out but he stopped me and helped me so much. In the end after lots of time and phone calls, I walked out with the game being purchased under my credit card, information about my card, and the details so I could buy more until my actual card comes. Big thanks to Lawrence for helping me out today. I always see him here and he's always helpful and funny. And props to his manager for helping too even though I took a bit of their time in the line. I would definitely recommend this gamestop to anyone looking for good games and good service. And I will definitely be taking the time to give him a good review for the outstanding care...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI will never give this place my business again. They only had one person working today which doesnāt make much sense to me. I waited in line for several minutes while each customer asked the associate questions about a game that was being realaesed at midnight. Not one of the ppl purchased a thing. I was willing to spend at least $100, but that is beside the point. When I get to the front of the line, I told the associate that I was looking at to purchase several figures but they were all locked up. As Iām walking away from the register to show him exactly the ones I want, the customer in back of me rudely asks the associate a question. Instead letting that customer know that he was already helping another customer he abruptly stops helping me and proceeded to get the personās information to pre-order a game. I immediately walked out of the store. No sense of customer service in...
