I hesitate to leave this review because I understand how this may impact a business. However, I feel this must be said. This review is not about the salon itself, nor the owner. The location is clean and the staff were friendly. My complaint is with the person who did my hair, Marie. I went to this stylist for the first time for a press and curl after being referred by a friend who had a press with Marie just days before.
I have two complaints. The first being the manner in which my hair was trimmed but I will not spend time explaining. My biggest complaint is that I left the salon with severe heat damage and so did my friend. Marie caused irreversible damage to both our hair!
I arrived at the salon with a full head of healthy shoulder length 4b hair and left with a fried, uneven, mess of a bob. I am so disgusted I could cry! Before I even left the salon, I noticed that my press was extremely straight and my hair lacked the body it usually has. I thought it just needed to settle in. I wrapped my hair that night and the next day when I took off my bonnet, I noticed my hair smelled burnt, felt extremely dry and brittle, and was breaking off excessively when I combed it.
A week later, I washed my hair for the first time since my press, expecting my usual afro to reemerge. It did not! My hair will NOT revert to it's natural 4b state. The entire parameter of my hair from root to tip is bone straight as if I had a relaxer. There are some curls left in the center of my hair but the curl pattern is completely destroyed. I have deep conditioned my hair, did a steam treatment, a protein treatment but nothing will bring hair back. My hair has never been this damaged in my life.
Any professional hair stylist knows that natural black hair, especially color treated hair like mine, requires extra care and minimal heat. Marie ignored all that and had her flat iron set to "hot as hell" when she pressed me and my friend's hair.
This level of damage will take years to repair. Marie should not ever be allowed to work on natural...
Read moreHighly Recommend!! This is my second time visiting E'lure Salon and Spa, and I am very much so pleased with my service. All the ladies are wonderful, knowledgeable and very skilled at what they do, but I was styled by Yachi Battle and let me tell you, she will put you to sleep with the shampooing; her scalp massages will keep you coming back lol. My scalp always feel clean, stimulated, and she always make sure you are okay and educates you about your hair every step of the way. She styled my hair in Two-Strand Twists and I've gotten so many compliments on how healthy and soft looking they are. I always feel relaxed and encouraged and beautiful from the time I walk in, until the time I leave. If you're looking for a salon where the ladies care more about the health of your hair vs just styling for pay, a relaxing experience, and a team who generally love and motivate each other, as well as you, then E'lure Salon and Spa is the place to be. If they had a masseuse, nail tech and esthetician, this really would be your one stop shop for all things...
Read moreI was apprehensive about going to this salon. It was recommended by a lady I met at a Hawks game. When I asked her," Who does your hair?" She stated, Ms. Charlotte , who was her stylist for many years. I must say when I called for a consultation, I didn't know what to expect. To my surprise, not only was Ms. Charlotte friendly, professional and welcoming, so was all the stylist and their clients. You can tell it was a happy place full of positive energy. Ms. Charlotte recommended me to another stylist, Ms. Marie. What a great experience and she performed a beautiful outcome for my hair. She told me what to get, where to go and explained what she was going to do to my hair to meet my needs. I went today and she exceeded my expectations and put my apprehension at ease. Since I've left my appointment, I have recieved many complements and asked "Who did your hair?" Thank you to all the Elure staff for making me feel comfortable and at ease. Thank you Ms. Marie for giving me back my crown. Thank you. See...
