Last night, me and my brother and I stopped by Nordstrom Rack in Culver City, and we're followed by security. It's time to start fighting back against the racial profiling at Nordstrom stores!!! I'm asking black customers to start pulling out your phone and recording security when you are followed, then post the video on TikTok!
I made a return the moment I walked into the store. therefore, we had no bags in our hands, and we didn't even have on jackets or a mask. Thus, the question is why we were selected to be followed!
After making a return, we went into the mens department and were looking for shirts for my brother. I left my brother and went to the women's shoe department to look around, and I noticed a chunky Mexican man wearing all black with black shoes with no socks. He looked me up and down and said hi to me and game and stood not far from me pretending to look at women shoes in the size 11 section. I knew this had to be security. Then shortly after a latina girl wearing all black also, sipping on a drink, kept looking at me and followed me down every row I went down and stayed close to me as I tired on shoes, clearly keeping her eyes on me! She never tired on one shoe and clearly did not wear a size 9 or 10 shoe.
At this point I realized that I have clearly been racially profiled by security in the store because I'm a black women and I have on a baseball cap and based on those factors they believe that I must be there to steal!!!!!! I then called my brother and told him that I'm being followed by security and I I walked toward the front of the store to pay.
When I get toward the front of the store, the same chunky Mexican guy wearing all black is standing by the line looking at me. This is when my brother informs me that the same guy that followed me had been following him. I'm the mens department.
This is when I asked to speak with mangement, as I'm waiting for mangement to come out I take out my phone to take a picture of one of the security guards that followed me and my brother. He sees me take a picture and starts to walk away very quickly!!! Then the manger by the name of Beverly P, came over and added insult to injury by lieing to me and saying that she didn't know who the guy was that was following me and my brother and that he dosen't work there!!!!! Addictionally, She never once said I'm sorry about your experience or anything to try and calm the situation. She couldn't even look me in my face because she knew she was lying!!
Clearly, this is not the first time a customer like myself has complained about being followed in there store because the cashiers who were very nice ringing up customers were shaking their heads in agreement that following black customers needs to stop! Please note that this is not the first time that I have been followed in a Nordstrom store, which is why I'm so mad!!! Nordstrom has a serious issue with racially profiling black customers until they start to address that issue!!! It does not matter how many black people they hire if you treat your black customers like criminals!!!
Please note that I'm an educator with two Master degrees but when I walk into Nordatrom with as a black person wearing s baseball cap the assumption is that you can't be educated, you dont have money to shopping there and you certainly must be here to steal!!
I have had enough!!! I'm asking every black person that shops at any Nordstrom store to start pulling out your phone a record security when you are followed and post the video on TikTok, this is what happens when your black and trying to shop at Nordstrom! It's time to fight back since they clearly don't care about how their black customers are treated!
Please see the picture of the employee who followed me and my brother wearing all black!!! And the security guard that was waiting by the door as me and my brother was...
Read moreDeplorable customer service. I have been an avid Nordstrom shopper for over 20 years. My repeat service was due to your high quality merchandise and excellent customer service. Since everyone is aware of my love for your store; I was provided with a gift card for my birthday. Today, I visit at your Culver City Nordstrom, I was extremely disappointed by your limited number of clerks while resulted in a 30 minute wait in line for my first purchase. This was never the case when the store was located at the Howard Hughes Bridge location. Then for my second purchase, I visited one of the customer service kiosk booth and waited patiently for the one customer ahead of me to complete their transaction. Then, from nowhere another customer appeared and was helped before me. Another sales associate started to assist customers and pull patrons from another locations and started to assist them before me that was waiting in line now over 15 minutes. When the second sales associate was assisting others, he hit me with an article of clothing that was being returned as it was being placed on the rack and never acknowledge the action nor apologized. Finally, when I was helped, the ring Erick B asked if I would move to the side of the desk since the second ringer took over the entire counter top. I have never being treated in this matter, not Nordstrom nor any other place I patronize in all my years of shopping. As I exited the store, I asked one of the clerks at the check-out counter for the corporate phone number and she search her binder and was unable to locate it and stated she would have to go to the back and retrieve this information. At this point, I was beyond frustration and just exited the store in order for others to be serviced. I will never shop at this location again and will tell others...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience at Nordstrom with a cashier named Ariana T. When I walked up to the register with my kids, she immediately asked for my phone number. I kindly let her know that I wanted to do an exchange before making my purchase, and she processed it. When I asked if she was still going to input my number, she looked irritated and replied, “That’s why I asked you for your number in the beginning.”
I didn’t say anything further because I was with my children, but then she continued in a very dismissive tone, saying, “Next time give me your number,” in a way that felt rude and unprofessional.
As a customer, and especially as a parent, I don’t think it’s acceptable to be spoken to in that manner in front of my kids. A cashier should be patient, respectful, and professional this interaction was none of those things. I left the store feeling uncomfortable and disrespected, which is not the experience I expect...
