I live in the area and always heard good things about Zales. So I decided to give them a try and my business. My intention was to get a ring re-sized for my fiance. We wanted to go down in sizing. Everything was good from the beginning and professional. Mentioned it would take 1-2 weeks to see if the job can be done and to get an estimate. I was okay with that so I proceeded and after about 2 weeks passed. I asked me fiance to call just to get an update and they mentioned they'd call back. About 3 hours later the same day I get a call and said it was ready.
I found that to be a bit odd since either it was already there and they forgot to communicate that or it just was a coincidence it got there a few hours later due to shipping. I can understand mistakes like that can happen so im not worried about that. When they called they told me it was going to be $500 for the re-sizing. I mean that's a bit absurd and I was at work so I said okay and hung-up. Now in my mind I was told I'd get an estimate for the re-sizing before the job to be done and that was not the case. They did the work anyway.
I called a few days later and spoke to a woman named Bre. I explained my situation about why I wasn't contacted about receiving an estimate before the work to be done. She mentioned since I signed the work to be done they did it automatically when I thought I was supposed to get an estimate first which I tried to explain. Then I brought up why it being so much ($500). She mentioned that's the price they set for re-sizing.
So I tried to explain if you knew the set price then how come I wasn't set that expectation in the first place. First I'm told one thing then Bre is telling me another. She then had an attitude as I tried to explain that to her. She then gave me two options.
Either I could come to the store and pay the $500 or pay $50 to have it sent back and get the work un-done. After her attitude and misleading. We both went our way and ended the call. About a week and a few days later I called back and a gentleman answered my phone call. Initially I was going to call to get the work un-done and take my business elsewhere. However when I called a gentleman answered and asked about the ring. He mentioned it was at the store and I asked him how much and he said it's $49.00
I was thrown off by this and asked a second time if it's really that price and he confirmed yes. So I did end up going to pick-up my ring I got re-sized and the two gentleman that nite were very professional. That's why I'm giving it 1 star instead of 0 if I could.
I'm in sales myself so I know how it can be like dealing with upset customers, but I felt bre escalated the situation instead of the opposite and felt as if trying to up-sell me for a service like a used car dealership. She ming sound friendly from all the reviews, but I'm sure it's just an act if you're actually interested rather than browsing. Unfortunately the earrings were too big and had to return them yesterday ! I had ordered other jewelry from Zales I also returned at another location on Monday ! All jewelry I brought in to return yesterday arrived yesterday ! I was told by the sales representative that one pair I couldn't get refund because he said I already returned ! I was like how is that possible because everything you see came today ! I didn't return sny earrings from the order I received on Monday that came yesterday makes no sense ! I had all emails and receipts so this made me very upset angry and annoyed ! I didn't have a problem at the other sales so they went to the day before so I don't know why there was a problem with their system yesterday yet again I don't really shop in store sometimes I do order online that's very rare that I ever do returns ! Not the best experience I've ever had with Zales ! Oh the sales representative said maybe the reason we couldn't get a refund for the 5th pair of errings is because the system was down on the East coast nevehing like this before ... I will keep the last pair of errings but it m it'saybe awhile before I buy or shop at...
