We recently stumbled upon "Super Dumpling," which has taken over the old Wokcano spot, and what an absolutely delightful discovery it was! From the moment we interacted with them, it was clear this place is special.

The highlight of our experience, even for a takeout order, was the incredible customer service. Nesly, the manager, was exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond. He patiently guided us through the menu, offered water while we waited, and truly took the time to ensure we felt welcomed and valued. In a world where genuine customer service feels increasingly rare, this was such a refreshing and heartwarming experience for our entire family. What truly amazed us was his dedication: Nesly even refused a tip, preferring instead that we leave a review if we were satisfied, or call him directly with any issues or concerns so he could personally make it right. That level of commitment is simply unheard of today.

Now, for the food – it was absolutely delicious and genuinely worth every bite! We savored the cucumber salad, the rich crab beef XLB, and the perfectly crafted Shrimp Siu Mai dumplings. Our main dishes were equally impressive: the crab fried rice, flavorful kung pao chicken, tender beef broccoli, delicate stir-fried shrimp, and a perfectly cooked white fish with asparagus. We also tried the shrimp fried rice and the classic Yang Chow fried rice, both excellent. The garlic butter noodles and Singapore fried rice noodles were fantastic. Both desserts, the unique chocolate Xiao Long Bao and the delightful Rice cake with brown sugar, were a massive hit with the whole family. The seafood platter was decent overall, though it could have used a touch more salt and perhaps a little less lemon – still edible, but not quite on par with the other outstanding dishes.

I had my reservations given half the store looked like it was recently abandoned, but the food here is really solid and service very fast and friendly.

Pan fried juicy buns have a little savory meatball inside that’s great. Chicken xiao long bao is certainly different (it’s usually pork) but still works well and the soup inside is tasty. Sautéed string beans were great too, not greasy and just a perfect amount of garlic.

There are still some carryover menu items it seems from Wokano but my kids loved the sushi rolls too. Servers were nice and food generally came fast.

They do need to fill out their Chinese menu more as it’s pretty sparse options, but if they are consistent with the food quality, I think this place will do great. They should also get a beer and wine license and start restocking those shelves with some Chinese and Asian beer and wines/soju/saké.

And no, it’s not Din Tai Fung but we desperately need some higher quality Chinese food in Culver. Super Dumpling has the potential to fill a very apparent gap.

THE VIBES 5/5 THANK YOU to SUPER DUMPLING for making my 37th birthday a memorable one! This restaurant is right next to five guys on the first floor of the mall. Lots of open space and plenty of seating.

THE SERVICE 5/5 (special shoutout to WIN & MARINA) The reservation process was easy peasy. They even held my bday cake while I had to go to an event at the mall. When we arrived for our reservation, Win- our waitress- was super sweet & accommodating. She kept checking in on us throughout our time there, and helped us with recommendations for it is was first time there (it’s only been open for several months!)
