AMC Avenue Forsyth 12 - The Silver Screen Oasis with a Golden Nostalgic Hue
The AMC Avenue Forsyth 12 carries the charm of a seasoned veteran, holding the cinematic fort in Georgia and bearing witness to countless movie magic moments, especially for this humble A-List member.
Its proximity adds to its charm, being as convenient as a personal home theater, without the need to fuss about the popcorn. Its location echoes the real estate mantra - "location, location, location", conveniently positioned and perfect for those impromptu movie nights or for spontaneous cinephiles looking to catch the latest flick.
Now, let's address the elephant in the room - the seats. Alas, they're reminiscent of an aging Hollywood star refusing to retire, a far cry from the reclining grandeur found at newer, flashier competitors. They serve their purpose, yes, but they lack the pampering comfort that makes a movie experience transform from good to unforgettable.
AMC Avenue Forsyth 12 can't boast of having the most luxurious seats, but it holds its own in the face of competition with its competitive prices. It's like a dependable character actor, delivering a solid performance movie after movie, without demanding top billing.
The "IMAX" screen is an enigma, akin to a movie plot twist you didn't see coming. It's a bit of a cinematic sleight of hand, but it delivers on the immersive experience, even if it lacks the enormity of a true IMAX spectacle.
Despite its minor flaws, the AMC Avenue Forsyth 12 remains an enduring part of my cinematic journey in Georgia. It's a place where countless stories have unfolded, both on the screen and in the lives of moviegoers like myself. Movie Theater Rating? A nostalgic 3.7 out of 5, with a standing ovation for its convenience, competitive pricing, and the countless memories it's helped create. Curtain...
Read moreMy husband, son and daughter and I were going to see The Conjuring. After scanning my ticket and my son’s tickets (I purchased my son’s ticket paying full price) I was asked for identification. I showed the theater employee my digital GA driver’s license. The license indicates it is a government issued ID, provides the same details as the physical version including a photo. Please note that a digital license is not a photo of the physical license. I was advised that was not acceptable, so I asked for a manager.
The first manager I spoke with stated he was new and couldn’t help me and had to call another manager. The second manger informed me it is AMC policy that a physical identification is required. I advised the manager, that several AMC employees have accepted the digital license prior to today and have never mentioned a physical license is needed. Additionally, I directed the manger to the AMC Policies and FAQs displayed in the theater which also does not state a physical license is required only a valid government issued ID.
The manager could have accepted the ID as other employees there have and advised going forward I would need a physical license, however he offered no solution other than to say he was sorry it is AMC policy.
I find it very interesting that TSA will allow me to board a plane using the digital license however AMC will not accept it to confirm I am an A-List member and allow entry into the theater to watch a movie. AMC will however accept a picture that I upload to the app, which could be a picture of anyone with no validation. (Side note, I have tried several times to unsuccessfully upload a photo to the app)
There are other movie theater options and in my opinion AMC needs to embrace the digital age, as the US government has and accept digital licenses as a form of...
Read moreThis has been my go to theater for the last ten years. My son was up for Xmas and we thought we would go see a move. For the Pass 15 years I have always purchased my movie tickets at Costco. They have no expiration date and you save a couple bucks. We went to the 10:15 pm show of “The Mule” and the theater was its normal ghost town for the last showings. Went to the ticket office scanned my paid for passes and the attendant told me he could not accept them? I asked why , and told him I’ve been using these passes since the theater was opened. Hey smart instead they’re not invalid just corporate told us we could not except them anymore and proceeded to hand me a piece of paper and said I have to take a picture of the passes and email the company. I asked to speak to a manager, he was professional but pretty much repeated the same corporate line. As I pleaded my case saying how unfair that was since they’ve already been paid for those tickets by Costco how could they not except them since there is no expiration date on them. Having no clear answer the back-and-forth continued at which point another “so-called” manager inserted himself in our conversation and stated “leave” I continue the conversation with the first manager and again the second manager repeatedly kept saying “leave”. I guess he was feeling pretty tough as there was an armed security a few feet who was also professional and remained uninvolved. I left knowing I would never return to any AMC theater in the world nor will my kids or granddaughters; so congratulations, a very smart corporate policy. By the way, Costco refunded my money for the tickets, as they continue to be one of the best run companies in the country. Regal is now my theater of choice and accepted the passes without issue. Regal’s oversized recliner chairs...
