What is not to love about Middle Eastern food! Rich in flavor with an earthiness and complexity of flavors that float over your pallet like a softly played piano . It calls to my midwestern soul to open up my senses and just experience what comes my way... Dish Dash food is something special. We hadn't been to this location in Cupertino before and they have been in the building on Stephens Creek for five years. We are fans of their Sunnyvale location and stroll in when we are in the area. Cupertino has the very same menu it seems and the quality of the food is the same. Excellent! Fresh simple food cooked with complex flavors of the "Spice Regions of the world. Cumin, Nutmeg, Sumac, Fenugreek ummm. Not to forget that Middle Eastern food is very healthy. Today we stopped by for lunch at about 3:30 pm. We caught them in an in between busy time. There were about ten other diners in the large dining area. At this location you order at a counter and they give you a beeper disk to alert you to your order being ready for pickup. Not my favorite at dinner time, but for lunch it's fine. I had a hard time choosing as their menu is extensive. I went with the Chicken Shawarma Medium Salad with humus, pita wedge and basmati rice as sides. My dining partner had Lamb Shawarma with Baba Ghanoush and Falafel. He had asked if they had Doogh - a fizzy yogurt drink with mint. (Talk about probiotics!), but they didn't. Instead he had the apple, lemon and carrot juice with a bit of mint. The food was every bit as wonderful as I had anticipated. There were also 3-4 fried pita chips with spices that were crunchy and burst with flavor and not to mention calories. I had one and passed the others to my eager to taste partner. "Very rich", but they are soo good! The food was served on a luncheon sized plate with sides, but I found myself feeling full at the halfway point. Normally I have my cooler with ice along as we may make a stop for groceries, but not today. Not to worry, my partner asked if I was going to finish....just as my plate was inching it's way across the table. No wonder he was asking about every little thing on my plate. ;) The Cupertino DishDash dining atmosphere is very different from the Sunnyvale cozy tables. Cupertino boasts a large dining room with about 5 sections divided by pony walls. You don't get a cafeteria feeling. I had to take a star or two off for the tv displays arranged so all seats had a view. They are probably left from the surfy hamburger business that previously occupied the building. My partner said it was , "a bit distracting", I agreed, my earthy vibe was a bit dented. Still everything added up to a terrific lunch! One we will be repeating! Our lunch came to $51.00 before the tip. PS The hostess/cashier is wonderful! Ask about anything on the menu and she knows...
Read moreRude. Rude. Rude. Dehumanizing experience in this restaurant. The Latino cashier from this establishment will intimate you. Been a customer of years, but first time being assisted by this staff that gave me a very hard time. He was short tempered, too. Made fun of my slight English accent multiple times with rude remarks. He made derogatory comments on my English (ironically the cashier had thicker accent than myself). The staff started using sarcasm and cackling when requested to speak with manager. The cashier was very discourteous. The manager had to silence the cashier multiple times given his attitude problems when discussing the situation. Had two different encounters with this staff during my visit. The cashier forced me to review my order on the screen with arrogance yelling me "faster" , "faster" . He was very sassy. I didn't come to this establishment to get disrespectful demeanors from the cashier. No amount of apologies from the manager eliminates the fact her staff was extremely rude and the cashier bad mouthing and disputing even in front of manager. Muy grosero el staff que se encarga de procesar órdenes. The food was very good, but the manners from cashier were disgraceful. Very embarrassing having to speak with the manager against the behavior of the cashier. Hopefully the regional corporate lead addresses this situation (this is unacceptable). Hold the manager accountable to discipline this cashier for the detrimental attitude against customers. Never...
Read moreDish n Dash Cupertino is the bomb, just like their fancier version in Sunnyvale. What I love about this place is that they sell our favorite dish "chicken beriani dajaj" (chicken in aged yogurt sauce) at a lower price point than their Sunnyvale restaurant, but it's just as good!!!
Highly Recommend
Chicken Beriani Dajaj -- no other place makes this dish as wonderful as Dish n Dash and Dish Dash. Chicken is succulent and juicy, saffron rice is flavorful, almonds are toasty and crunchy, and the star of the show---the aged yogurt sauce--is tangy, creamy, nuanced in flavors, and just SO YUMMY. We crave this all the time!
Their chicken shawarma lavash wraps are AWESOME -- our boys get this door dash'd a lot while at the gym doing exercise and homework. Super healthy & SO good! Love the many side options too. Recommend the baba ghanoush (roasted eggplant) and hummus and any of their fresh salads!
Their side sauces are super flavorful & hit the spot! They have 3 unlimited options when you eat there in person. Especially love the garlic yogurt sauce and cilantro-based sauces....
