I dropped in this morning to make a simple return. The cashier begins to process the return, then asks to see the card that I paid with, so that she could verify the last four digits. I explain to her that I paid with Apple Pay, so the actual four digits on my physical credit card (which I also had on hand) would not match the Apple Pay card number. Apple encrypts the credit card number for safety reasons.
She proceeded to tell me that they’ve had a lot of issues with scamming and that I need to open the details on my Apple Pay to prove to her that the card I used to pay with on the receipt was my own. This was offensive for more than reason because I am not a scammer, so I don’t know why I am being accused of being one. Secondly, I have my receipt in hand and the physical credit card with me. She tells me I need to hand her my phone, so that she can open the details for me.
As a consumer who is also concerned about data breaches, why would I show a cashier who I do not know, my banking information in my Apple Pay account which is inclusive of my home address, full name, and other details? I show her the transaction details on my Apple Pay, which matched the receipt that I have in hand and she continued to persist with her behavior, which was accusatory and upsetting to me.
I asked for the manager, and she refuses to call him for me and just processes the refund to the original form of payment, which was my Apple Pay. I called the store back immediately after I left and spoke the manager on duty and he said that he would be speaking with her and at the store has experienced a loss of tens of thousands of dollars due to fraud. I understand that, but I must make it known, that I am not OK with what happened today and I actually felt violated.
If customers are going to be accused of being scammers, while also being vulnerable to scam potential from your employees, then a better process is needed. This seems to be a major issue with whatever they are being trained and told to do. Although manager was extremely helpful and apologetic, I would like to forewarn others of the negligent practices behind upheld by...
Read moreI am very disappointed in this store. They offer so much nice Christmas decorations, trees, lights , etc but there is not anyone there that can stop to assist you. I went looking for a 7.5” tree that I saw on their web page and I did find it up on their racks on the second row, the bottom was out. I had to go get a cart and maneuver it to where I could slide it into the basket & let it fall. I then went and found lights and other items I needed and headed to the checkout. The line was long & people were leaving their carts and walking out. You know it’s that time of year gather your employees and help checkout customers . I finally get to the register & she never asks if I need help carrying out my tree I weigh approximately 105 at max?!! I know I can more than likely move it a little bit but I’m thinking am I gonna be able to get it over the basket ? I am spending all this money and it would be nice to have a little assistance with this tree … it’s so ridiculous that you can’t hire help to assist with things like this. I guess I should have gone to Home Goods or Hobby Lobby or all the other places that are prepared … If I don’t like the...
Read moreSo the fine print on AT HOME STORE receipt says that Christmas items retuned AFTER DECEMBER 25th will be reduced to the sale/clearance price EVEN WITH A RECEIPT! I wasn’t aware then, but I am now. I just returned items from TJ Maxx, Home Sense and Target, to name a few and with my receipt I got every penny back that I paid for Christmas items. The girl was rude so I was rude back. I was actually going to shop around but after what I learned about returns I will never step foot in that establishment again. Too many other stores to take my business to. I’m just one unhappy customer but people need to know and be aware of this establishment’s return policies. AFTER DECEMBER 25th? SERIOUSLY? Every other store I went to has a JANUARY 30th cut off returns for ALL ITEMS PURCHASED DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON, INCLUDING CHRISTMAS DECOR! BYE BYE TO THE AT HOME STORE. NO MORE BUY, BUY FROM...
