I went to the Brook Home & Gift today, Sunday December 13th, in hopes of finding a few gifts for Christmas. I had gone there several times when it was Magpies, and had pleasant experiences. Today, I visited the store around 12:30, walked around and checked out the jewelry. I was specifically looking for Kendra Scott. I was so excited to find a pair of earrings I had been looking for, and decided to return after the rest of my shopping was done. The staff followed me around, but I didn’t think anything of it at first, until I returned to the store about an hour later. This time, two of the women hovered around me as if I was going to steal something. I was checking out other Kendra Scott pieces and had planned on purchasing several. One women asked if she could hold the items, and she would look to see if they had others in the back. The other woman literally stalked me, and stood by me while I checked out the different jewelry pieces from the various lines in the store. I finally decided I had had enough, and went to check out. The young girl was pleasant, but didn’t have a clue about items in the back, as “these are all we have”. I was very disappointed with the store personnel. I gave them no reason to believe I was anything but an honest customer. Yet they made me feel that my business was not wanted. They had more employees than customers in the store. The hovering and snobby attitude of the staff was unacceptable. There were many other items and jewelry lines I was interested in, and I would have purchased in the future, and have the finances to do so, but not now. We stopped by before going to have breakfast at the diner next door. We happened to stumble upon a major sale. We pretty much purchased an entire car full of items. We received approximately 1400.00 worth of merchandise for 181.40....AMAZING! I actually felt bad, for buying so much of the good stuff but I also noticed they were steadily being up more products. Anyway, we learned the about the business and how it got its new name...we met the owner and some of her family. I even tried to tip them for being so helpful & carrying my items to the car with me but she profusely refused, stating that she just wanted to be helpful ....just to be helpful. The ladies Who are running this place are so kind and fun to chit chat with . They all seem excited about their customers and their products. They procure from trade shows all over the US and cater to the newer “modern farmhouse themes” to the “classical class” to “old money class” as well as some metaphysical items.
