Used to be our absolute favorite sushi place to go to, but unfortunately no more. Happy hour prices were originally available to curb side and delivery, but they opened their dining room and made the decision to offer happy hour prices to dine-in customers ONLY now in the middle of a pandemic!
We called in our to-go order and were surprised by the price. When I asked the person on the phone why the price was so high, we learned they were no longer offering happy hour prices on pickup.
We decided to go ahead and keep the order anyway, and I thought I would talk to the manager about it. I (very nicely!) explained that for customers that take care of aging/sick parents whom are in a very high risk category, unfortunately eating inside of a restaurant is still not safe for us. We loved their food and really would like to continue supporting them, but feel like we are being hung out to dry because we aren't willing to risk getting sick or bringing the virus back to our family in order to get the happy hour discount.
Her recommendation to me was that only one of us eat in, and bring the food back to the other. She needs to "look out" for the restaurants profits.
I was a bit shocked to say the least. Unfortunately our sushi money is now going to HEB and Sams Club instead. Not nearly as good, but at least we can pick it up safely without having to take our masks off, and I'm not feeling like I'm getting screwed on the price by refusing to take a risk with my, and my family's, health.
Oh and to top it off, I got charged...
Read moreWe've been going here since it opened a few years ago. We've seen them go through two ownership changes. And quite frankly, the current ownership has it right.
First owners, were, artists.. Great rolls. Not much on the personality and atmosphere side.
Second owner, all personality and fun. Not much on the artistry of a good sushi roll.
Finally, current owner Mike and his team provide the diner the best of both worlds. Excellent rolls, and great atmosphere and personality. Wonderful experience every time we go.
Fish is top notch and fresh. Portion sizes are excellent. Great Happy Hour specials every day from 3-7. Sit at the bar, and the team will make your roll however you like... If you want a certain roll, but you want some Jalapeno added in, just tell them and they will customize for you.
Fantastic place. As far as the negative reviews out there. You get out of it what you put in. I recommend sitting at the Sushi Bar and chatting up the crew. Much better experience than sitting in a cold booth.
Side note: This place is BYOB, which I actually like. Bring your own bottle of Sake or 6 pack of beer. They will ice it down for you, put it in their fridge. Provide Sake glasses, whatever you need.

Read moreUpon entering the restaurant we discovered it was BYOB- so they don't serve any alcohol, don't expect to get your sake fix here. Lacking some of what I'd consider basic rolls. After ordering edamame as an appetizer, which was quite tasty, the staff became inattentive. There were only about 3 tables occupied in the restaurant, so this wasn't because they were busy. It took another 15 min for them to take our order for 2 sushi rolls and fried rice. They brought the fried rice while were eating the edamame and avoided us for the next 45 min- after which I asked if they knew what was going on with our sushi rolls. She said they only had one sushi chef and it would be out soon. We waited another 20 min and debated asking for the check and leaving, but she came back and said there was a mistake with our order and it would be right out. They then brought out one correct roll and my boyfriend's order was wrong. He ate it anyway and we paid and left. We spent between an hour and a half-2 hours here when it was supposed to be a quick stop.. we won't be coming back here and would...
