Buying furniture can be such a stressful life event—especially when you’re trying to find a good deal without getting scammed.
We needed seating for our small apartment that could comfortably fit two people and a dog while also being practical and cozy. As a book girlie, I wanted something perfect for lounging with a good read, and that’s when I came across the Ashley Stupendous Oversized Chaise—love at first sight! But the price on the manufacturer’s site? Nearly $1,200 (not including delivery) and a 4-6 week wait.
Determined to find a better deal, I scoured the internet. Facebook Marketplace? Shady sellers, sketchy vibes. Other discount sites? Either seemed fake, didn’t ship to my location, or had questionable addresses (seriously, Google Maps had me side-eyeing some of them). Just as I was about to give up and pay full price, I decided to narrow my search to local stores—and that’s when I found Z & R Furniture.
At first, I thought it was another “too good to be true” site, but since I grew up in Woodbridge, I recognized the shopping plaza and knew it was legit. Could I have driven over to check in person? Sure. But let’s be real—I had books to read.
So, after running it by my boyfriend, we decided to go for it. Best decision ever. Our chaise arrived in just 2-3 weeks—way faster than the manufacturer’s estimate—and the total price with delivery was under $1,000! The delivery process was seamless. They called my boyfriend 30 minutes out, then called me again when they were closer to confirm details. Once they arrived, they carefully unloaded the chaise and brought it straight into our living room without a hitch. Since we’re right by the elevator, no stairs were involved, but the whole process was still super professional and efficient.
I highly recommend checking out Z & R Furniture for your next big furniture purchase. Not only do you get great deals, but you’re also supporting a local business—a...
Read moreRUN FOR THE HILLS! If you happen to fall in love with any piece of furniture from this store, look up the manufacturer and see if they have it elsewhere. My experience was less than favorable dealing with this company. I mistakenly ordered a headboard (didn’t even know that was a thing) and that was due to be delivered to me in about two weeks. The kicker is I sought to cancel and then find out I could not. I was simply told “you cannot get your money back” with no actual customer oriented approach. I understand it was my responsibility to know the cancellation policy thus, please read the cancellation policy page. They do not share the policy when you are attempting to order. You have to search it out on their website. Once I placed an order for the remainder of the bed, I was met with utter silliness. Afroja one of the store reps was very rude, unkind and not customer friendly at all. She is not armed with info needed to help customers, will over talk customers at any moment and is unapologetic when you bring to her attention an issue on behalf of Z&R. She literally yelled at me over the phone. However, Mohammad, came to the rescue to meet me with kindness and help. I appreciate that. Still it took me an additional month to get the remainder of my bed with no check in from Z&R. I had to check with them weekly to check on my order. Also, due to the lack of control by Z&R to ensure delivery will be made in a timely fashion I just had to wait. Once I had my lawyer reach out, my order was delivered the very next day. If you don’t mind waiting for furniture for a month or so and can have a legal entity help out, go for it. Other than that, just go with a more reputable company with the same product. I do not recommend this company for any piece of furniture. Not even...
Read moreIf you live in an apartment building DONT BUY FROM THEM! Long story short I ordered a couch and expressed concern over the normal-sized elevator in my building but Mohammad said it would be fine. I kept asking if it would be possible to get the couch in boxes instead of fully assembled and he said no. I paid for the couch and the full $129 for the “white glove delivery service” and it was all for nothing. The couch didn’t fit in the elevators and the two guys just kept looking at me waiting for me to say/ do something. I live on the 9th floor so I didn’t expect them to go up all those stairs. But I paid $129 so I wouldn’t have to deal with this kind of stuff! I tried finding solutions to no avail (while they just stood there) and ultimately they left.
Fast forward like half an hour, I call to discuss a return (I paid almost $700) and the lady on the phone straight up yells at me and tells me it’s my fault, that I can’t hold them liable, and that “they’re not giving me back my money.” She was so rude and aggressive!! I ended up hanging up on her cause she was yelling.
After calling my bank to dispute the charges — because again, no couch and no successful delivery — my bank sided with me (obv) and closed the claim. I got lucky but honestly just save yourself the headache and go somewhere else.
I’m sure they’ll comment on here trying to shift the blame to me like they do with other reviewers but I don’t care. The sad part is I probably would’ve been more receptive if the girl wasn’t so aggressive right off the bat. As a local family owned business you’d think they take care of their customers better, but that’s not the case. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else!
I ended up buying a couch from Ashley’s and it was a pleasant,...
