1. I ASKED FOR EXTRA PINEAPPLE IN MY PIÑA COLADA FRAPPE AND THE LADY DIDN’T WANT TO DO IT BECAUSE SHE FELT IT’D BE TOO SWEET. I DIDN’T WANT TO SEEM AS IF I WAS DOING TOO MUCH OR FEEL AS IF I WAS ASKING FOR TOO MUCH, SO I JUST SAID “OKAY I’LL TAKE THE REGULAR HALF COCO HALF PIÑA” AND IT ENDED UP BEING TOO MUCH COCO FLAVOR FOR ME. I DIDN’T LIKE THAT SHE WOULDN’T JUST MAKE THE DRINK HOW I REQUESTED, SO I DEFINITELY DON’T PLAN TO GO BACK UNLESS IT’S JUST FOR ICE CREAM.
2. THEIR BOBA IS PRETTY GOOD. WARM, CHEWY, AND EASILY BETTER THAN CHUNKY CUP, BUT WORSE THAN KOMMA AND KUNG FU TEA.
3. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS WORSE THAN I WOULD’VE LIKED AND I FELT A BIT RUSHED EVEN THOUGH WE WERE THE ONLY CUSTOMERS IN THERE. SHE WASN’T NICE ABOUT ANSWERING MY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE CONTENTS OF THE FRAPPE (WHOLE MILK AND MILK POWDER ARE USED). SHE SPOKE IN A RATHER CONDESCENDING TONE WHEN RESPONDING TO MY QUESTIONS AND OF COURSE I JUST KEPT SMILING AND TRYING TO BE NICE WHILE I WAITED ON MY FRIEND TO GET THERE. I HAD HIGH HOPES FOR THIS CAFE EVEN THOUGH I WENT A YEAR AGO AND didn’t LIKE THE TASTE OF THE RED BEAN DRINK. I FIGURED IT WAS JUST BECAUSE MY PALETTE HADN’T REALLY BEEN EXPOSED TO THAT TASTE BEFORE AND I SHOULD GIVE CAFE MIKKI ANOTHER CHANCE. IT JUST ISN’T A DECENT BOBA PLACE FOR ME. Came in on a Sunday afternoon with my husband, around 3:30pm to order my usual passion fruit green tea with brown sugar boba. I was standing in line to order and my husband had to use the restroom, an employee - young white girl with brown hair very rudely said “you need to order first before you could use the restroom” he explained “my wife is standing in line to order, I need the restroom.” She rudely stated “that’s our store policy” when he tried to explain again that my wife is in line to order she stopped responding or making eye contact, pretending as if she could not hear him. Very bad customer service. I have been coming to Cafe Miki since January and never experienced such rudeness. I have NEVER had anyone not provide me with the code to use the restroom because I had not ordered first. To make matters worse their machines were down and could only take cash. We left. The flavors and service here are so phenomenal! Highly recommend their strawberry lemonade (if you like boba, add the honey boba! the brown sugar boba is sweeter). They also offer ice cream and coffee as well. There are dairy free substitutes for the beverages and vegan options too. The interior is super aesthetic - perfect for Instagram. The seating area is small but usually opens quickly during the busiest times. There has never been a wait time in my experience - in and out within minutes! You must be a paying customer to use the bathroom, there is a sign on the door that clearly states that. 100% recommend for anyone who likes chewy boba with a good bite and high quality flavors. FYI, I can say the bubble tea in Potomac Mills mall is much sweeter and their boba is super soft with little to no taste if that is more your style.
