I recently spent a day at the spa at the W Hotel in Dallas, and while there were some enjoyable aspects, there were several disappointments that overshadowed my experience.
To start, the 50-minute massage I received was indeed therapeutic and skillfully performed by a seasoned masseuse. However, I found the price to be excessively high for the overall value offered. The hotel and spa itself felt quiet and clean, but it appeared dated. The small ladies' locker area reminded me of an older cruise ship, which was not quite what I expected. Additionally, some areas exhibited dinged walls and cracked finishes, detracting from the overall ambiance.
On the positive side, I appreciated the complimentary shot of immunity and refreshing watermelon water upon arrival, and I found the amenities to be stellar. The outdoor pool was lovely to use, although the space was quite loud due to ongoing construction next to the hotel, which is expected to last until 2029.
One of my significant complaints revolved around the massage room. The facial cradle was uncomfortably small, leaving a large indent on my face that lasted for hours. The masseuse mentioned that many others have experienced the same issue and suggested applying a cold washcloth to soothe it. This seemed rather absurd to me. When I brought it up to the spa manager, he was indifferent and simply said, "Oh, thanks for telling me," which felt quite tacky. Fortunately, Megan at the front desk noticed my discomfort and generously offered me a glass of bubbly to make up for it, which was a kind gesture. However, I still believe a discount on my treatment would have been a more fitting response to the issue.
I also spoke with the hotel manager about my experience at the end of the day. He took note of my concerns and just expressed his thanks and apologies – again, not the response I had hoped for.
As for lunch at the pool, while the food tasted good, it was quite underwhelming and not substantial enough for the price. I noted this to the hotel manager, who repeated his apologies, which further added to my feeling of dissatisfaction.
Lastly, I was required to add a 20% gratuity, which felt excessive given my overall experience. Based on everything, I regrettably doubt I will be returning to the W Hotel spa. There’s potential for improvement, but significant changes are needed for me to...
Read moreBooked over $500 in spa packages for my birthday, and the experience ws subpar. The amenities were nice--steam shower, locker room amenities, robe, etc. Staff, lacking. I told my masseuse the areas I wanted her to focus on for my 2-hour massage. Around 1.5hrs through when I realized she didn't address my areas as requested, I asked if she was going to go back and expressed I needed extra attention in those areas, and I felt she got an attitude with me asking, and applied unnecessary pressure, resulting in me being sore in those areas for days afterwards. I even said "OW" as she did it, and she didn't acknowledge me or apologize. I hate that they automatically added gratuity because I was very unhappy.
Then for my facial. The tech asked me what my concerns were, I told her, she wrote them down, and then did my facial. 1 hour later I was done. I didn't get any guidance or advice on how to keep addressing those issues, I don't know what products were used on my face, and I wasn't even upsold to purchase the items used. What was the point of the "consultation" if I don't get any feedback?? Weird.
They did sign a birthday card for me and gave me a bag with some goodies. And the amenities were nice, but the service was terrible. For a big milestone birthday, I wish I would've treated myself...
Read moreUnbelievable. My cousin and I got Groupons from our moms for our birthdays and the 4 of us were so looking forward to having a spa day together. 2 of us were going to get facials & nails and 2 wanted massage and nails. We scheduled a day off work and everything. I called almost 2 months in advance to book to make sure we could all get in at the same time. I was told that only 3 people are working that day. 1 for facials and 2 for massages..NOBODY for nails. She told me they only have nail techs there Thurs-Sat(maybe Sun, don't remember). Regardless... that is completely ridiculous that a place like this would not offer all services every day and even if there were only 2 of us we both wouldn't be able to get a facial at the same time. I am really appalled that they cannot accommodate more than one at a time during the week. The person I was speaking to then proceeded to recommend I go to a nail place down the street from there that also does facials and told me how good they are. Wow. I told her I would just get my money back from Groupon and never go there. I have always been hesitant of trying Bliss and this kind poor service from the get go solidifies my feeling. If this is how it is when trying to get in I can't imagine the actual service would be great. Very...
