This “trail” Is just a paved 3 mile road-ish that is bombarded by everyone living downtown with nothing to do on a comfortable morning. I mean… it’s fine if you haven’t been on other true city hiking/biking trails (Houston’s BLOOOWS this one away with 50 miles of biking in any direction you can get can happily get lost in). I’m baffled at people dropping 5 stars on this honestly.
It’s really just a large 3 mile extra wide sidewalk of crammed people. More like a good walking/scooter trail, forget biking.

Read moreI was in Dallas on a business trip and training for a half marathon. I ran the Katy Trail on a misty Saturday morning, at around 8-9 AM. The trail is very well maintained and nicely landscaped. There are separate paths for cyclists and pedestrians. Despite the muggy weather, there were still dozens of people out. I felt SAFE as a single female here. There are street lamps, benches, and trashcans along the route. It is 3.5 miles (one way) of uninterrupted path as there are bridges over the road crossings. Ends right by a dedicated bike lane in Victory park that you can take into downtown. Also connects with Turtle creek.
