TL;DR: 5 stars, would recommend. Love the store and David was a great help.

And the novel-length version: I had a really lovely experience here! If you're in the DFW area and want to browse and try on a massive selection of unique, high-quality frames, this is definitely the best eyewear store I've been to. They carry a great selection of well-known brands as well as some that you won't find at bigger chains. There's also a parking garage right next to the store, so it's not super fussy to find parking and get to the store itself (there's also an elevator inside the garage if accessibility is a concern).

I believe they recommend making appointments so you're guaranteed to have an employee available to help you, but I went kind of on a whim and thankfully there weren't any other shoppers there. David was incredibly helpful and friendly! I gave him some pretty broad parameters (shape/size/style as well as how much I wanted to spend) and he pulled a lot of things for me to try, all of which were great. When I'd picked the frames I liked, he went over lens options with me and answered all my questions. I never felt like he was doing a hard sell/pressuring me to buy anything, which is definitely a feeling I've had at other eyewear stores. He and the other employees I interacted with were just very kind and seemed to genuinely care that I wind up with the glasses that were right for me.

My glasses were ready quite quickly and I felt like the amount of communication I received was appropriate, like they don't bombard you with texts or anything.

Vibes-wise I'd say the store itself leans fancy, but because the employees are so personable it doesn't feel stuffy--so even though I am quite casual I didn't feel out of place or...

My friend and I stumbled upon Black Optical after finishing our grocery shopping at the Traders Joe just a couple of doors down. We walked in and we were immediately impressed by the atmosphere, selection and the staff. It’s extremely clean, modern, organized and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Lisha was the absolute best. She greeted us with a smile and asked what we were looking for. I told her I had found a pair of glasses I wanted that I had seen in New Orleans and she immediately knew the brand without me saying who it was or even showing her a picture! Then I showed her a picture of the frames and she even knew the style and color! Extremely impressed by her product knowledge. I knew from that point on I was in good hands. They didn’t have the original pair I had wanted but she quickly started to grab different styles that were similar. She was very patient as I tried on a ton of styles and gave me honest feedback on frames she liked vs didn’t like on me. That’s refreshing in a salesperson. I felt like I wasn’t being pushed to just buy but she was there to help me find the perfect pair of frames for me. It felt more like hanging out with friends vs shopping and it was a ton of fun. Hard to find that type of experience in retail nowadays. So happy that I stumbled upon Black Optical, met Lisha and I was able to find my new glasses. I’ll be back for all my frames...

If you know me, you know that my glasses are basically a part of my body, so when my favorite/main pair broke and I lost the screw I was worried I would have to replace the frames completely. Coincidentally my favorite pair of prescription sunglasses also went through the same misfortune during my latest vacation. I searched for optical repair in Yelp and this place popped up as the closest to me, so I popped in.

This is one of the cutest optical shops I've seen in Dallas. Modern decor with an cozy ambience accompanied by a warm greeting from Lisha the Optician working that day. I showed her my frames and she was optimistic that she could repair both of them. While she worked on my glasses I perused the multiple options of glasses they had on the walls. It was an array of quirky, geometric frames to more traditional ones, with an additional wall of luxury frames. So many cute options, that I'm certain anyone can find a pair they'd love. In less than 20 minutes Lisha presented me with my fixed glasses. I was so grateful she even cleaned and tightened them as well. And all of it free of charge!

Service was friendly, speedy and great and when I'm in the market for new frames next year, I'm definitely coming back to...
