BEWARE OF FRAUDULENT BUSINESS PRACTICES I previously owned a 2017 Honda Accord Coupe that had been paid off several years prior. I had looked into buying a new car but interest rates have been a bit elevated. As a previous VW owner (x3), I happened onto the website and came across a special, offering the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan for 0% at 60 months. This sales strategy was to move the 2024 off the lot, as the 2025 Tiguan is set to release (I assume).
I inquired on April 23rd, 2025 via the website, receiving a text message at 7:35 PM. My first text ended with, "Are you able to confirm the APR rates for the Tiguan models, in general? I have very good credit." On Thursday, April 24th, 2025, Haymes Badai (spelled incorrectly on website as Hayms Badai) texted "Goodmorning ! right now for our tiguans we are offering 0% for 60 months! How soon can you make it in today to take advantage of this promotion?" I stopped by with my friend on Friday, April 25th, 2025, and the purchase was conducted; little did I know, I would find myself in a bait & switch that will cost me nearly $8000 over the course of an 84 month loan - I repetitively inquired about the 60 month loan.
Despite requesting to ask for him, upon arrival, I was informed by GSM Moe that Haymes (Hayms) was off. He paired me with Donnie Payten (spelled Patten on the professional website). Upon greeting me, I told Donnie that I wanted to specifically purchase the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan for the special being offered, especially considering I have very good to excellent credit. Following a test drive, I asked Donnie "If I were not to qualify for the 0%, what would be the next best interest rate." Donnie promptly replied, 1.9% - which I was nonchalant about considering that is extremely low as well (worst case scenario). After running a hard credit inquiry, Donnie exclaimed "you qualified."
The night continued, a continuous bartering of value for my trade-in, which is a scam in itself. My car was valued by KBB between $12500 - $14500. The first two offers were $7500 and $10500. After suggesting that I would take my vehicle to CarMax or private sell if I had to, they negotiated a final deal at $13500. Now knowing that I qualified for the 0% interest AND got what I was comfortable with on the trade ask, we moved forward and discussed monthly payments. I requested that Donnie run numbers for a down payment of $5000, $7500, and $10000. Keep in mind that I can pay the vehicle off in cash, but without interest, why utilize a large portion of funds. My goal was to get a payment within the $275 - $375 price point, each month.
We got this situated, and I was passed on to Avery Bush in finance. He was a quiet spoken gentleman, who overall, was kind. My biggest fault was that I blindly signed under the false premise that Donnie closed the deal based on what we had discussed for the previous 1.5 hours. As I signed, Avery did not go over each document, just explained what each document was titled and where to sign. Following the transaction, I received no hard copy paperwork NOR an email with a copy.
For weeks I was excitedly telling friends and family that I got the vehicle for 0% APR financing, as discussed and advertised. Without a credit score of 775, there was no reason to believe otherwise. I discovered the bait & switch when I had to call Volkswagen Park Cities to figure out how I can submit my first car payment, which was approaching. I was informed that my financing went through Capital One. That night, I received mail with my auto loan, which showed the total loan amount with 84 months and 7.28% APR.
I immediately called the dealership. I explained the situation and was told that Donnie would give me a call back; he failed to do so. I called back the following day, no response by Donnie. I then requested to speak with the General Sales Manager, Moe Abunijmeh (spelled incorrect as Abunijimeh on website). Despite a few back and forth emails, he failed to reach out on two different occasions AND missed a 12:30 PM appointment that MOE scheduled. No...

5 STARS for my saleswomen LaCreshia only. She was great! Super friendly, answered all my questions, played along during the test drive and gave me plenty of time to thoroughly inspect the used car I was looking to buy. If I asked a question she didn’t know, she didn’t hesitate to quickly find the answer for me.
3.5 Stars for the actual buying/financing process. As always, there were fees attached to the used car since this was coming from a dealership and not a private party. The car I was buying was a Hyundai. The one fee the sales manager (not LaCreshia) wouldn’t budge on is the “connected and protected” ELO GPS that Clay Cooley supposedly has installed on every car used and new and will not take it off. Could I have pushed them more to get this $995 connected and protected fee off the deal? Maybe. I could’ve stayed longer and not budged. I mean, that used Hyundai had been on their lot since November, it’s not like it was a hot commodity. Good luck trying whoever is reading this review. Anyway, as for the ELO GPS itself, all you’re getting for $995 is a 1-year trial for tracking your car with a phone app essentially. Could’ve done the same with a $25 AirTag. Clay Cooley may have been given a stellar sales partner pitch by ELO and couldn’t say no, or the dealerships just want to track their repos easier for people who don’t pay. Who knows 🤷🏼♀️ Shouldn’t be an end-user fee tbh.
As for the financing part after the sale price was established, our finance guy was great (didn’t catch his name). He was newer to the dealership so he still had to check with the finance director dude a couple times. It was the finance director who came in to double down on pushing the warranties and gap insurance VW offers that was off-putting. I let him stand there and man-splain to me how gap insurance works and why their warranty would be so great. At one point I asked myself if they’re selling me a POS used car with how many times he repeated himself. I knew walking into any dealership as a young woman just how underestimated and taken advantage of I may be, but their finance director’s astonishment of me refusing to buy any warranties or gap insurance was a little insulting. I mean, how many times do I have to say no? I also loved how he tried making eye contact with my husband as if he’d agree that I’m making a mistake. My husband was just there with me for decoration, I was the one buying this car and making the deal, so the finance director didn’t get any help from my husband. Anyway, he kept asking me why I wouldn’t take the warranties and gap insurance and if I don’t see the “value” in it. First of all, this is a used car originally made by Hyundai, not VW. It is still under warranty with Hyundai for another 20,000 miles or so. Also, with the amount I put down on this car and what it’s now worth as I drove it away, there is no need for gap insurance. The $20-$90 additional per month y’all wanted me to put on my monthly car payment was absolutely not worth it. Why would I put that money into a dealership’s pocket when I could put that money aside in a savings account myself and fund any repairs that may be needed outside Hyundai’s warranty? So no, to answer your question more throughly, I do not see the value in your warranties and gap insurance. To answer your second question, if I wasn’t taking the warranties and gap because of my budget, my answer to that is that budget was not a factor. I would not be buying a car I cannot afford to maintain or take an L on should something happen. I know y’all get a lot of people coming through there who are bad with money, so I’m sorry y’all couldn’t make any additional money off me.
Overall, decent experience. VW could’ve cleaned the car interior a little better than they did. I didn’t have to spend an entire day there to make a deal happen or draw this thing out over multiple days, which I appreciate. And, like I said earlier, LaCreshia was great. I’d buy a car from her again. Hope this review helps...

I strongly advise that you take your business to a Volkswagen dealership that has integrity and not waste your buying opportunity at Clay Cooley Volkswagen of Park Cities. The lack of communication and professionalism should be a huge concern for the Clay Cooley family and brand. I’m currently plagued with an issue of not being able to legally or safely drive my 2024 Tiguan SEL R-Line All Motion (total cost $42,390.65) due to a national backorder on part #5NL-941-113-D (left side headlight assembly) since March 2025 after an automobile accident. My SUV sat at the collision shop for 3 months and it was extremely frustrating calling Volkswagen Care for a solution and the collision shop for updates. I took it upon myself to try to find the part at local dealerships and Volkswagen authorized parts online. It was to my surprise that I learned that the part has been on backorder since 2024. Realistically what are the chances that I’ll get the headlight and an opportunity to drive my car again. This is where both Mo Abunijmeh (GM Clay Cooley of Park Cities) and his brother Gary Abunnijmeh ( Manager of Clay Cooley of Park Cities) gave me false hope, stopped communicating with me, and will no longer take my calls (I have audio evidence and text messages proving this fact). I’m a Navy Veteran who’s battling 3 diseases and I’ve expressed to both Mo and Gary that the stress of not being able to repair my SUV and the added expenses of Uber and Lyft has caused a lupus flare. Let me not forget to mention that I’m still liable for the car payment and auto insurance until part #5NL-941-113-D is back in circulation. Not only has both Mo and Gary failed to make good on the promise to first put me into a new vehicle (Mo) but then Gary claimed he can find the light if I gave him two weeks after Mo’s promise of a vehicle trade in was off the table due inflated cost of trade offer. They have both misrepresented the Clay-Cooley family guarantee of good service. Ironically I saw the Clay-Cooley Park Cities commercial about their offer loaner cars yesterday on TV, I found it to be a total contradiction to what my experience has been with this dealership. I inquired about a loaner car with Rufus Medina (salesman) and he told me that he would talk with Mo however I was never offered a loaner car. Bottomline, I’ve been blatantly lied to, misled and ghosted by both Mo and Gary. I definitely had higher expectations for this brand after owning Volkswagen vehicles for the past 9 years but unfortunately I am left with a lasting negative impression. I honestly hope Clay Cooley Volkswagen of Park Cities takes customer feedback seriously and straightens up the issues at this dealership.
Please note: Everytime that I have to call an Uber or Lyft to get me to my VA health appointments, surgeries and therapy I will go on all media platforms available to express my sincere frustration with Volkswagen. I was really looking for a solution and not to create a problem but at this point I’m seeking justice because clearly I’m being taken advantage of. P.S. I never signed the 2 party check that my insurance adjuster dropped off for repairs nor have I received a copy from Gary which I requested for my records.
Volkswagen you must answer for the hardships that you have caused your customers for not making available part #5NL-941-113-D. As of today 8/9/25 there still no ETA on part #5NL-941-113-D but my next car payment is due 8/21/25 while my 2024 Tiguan sits at your dealership...
