My wife and I truly love Halal Guys, so much so that everytime we travel to New York, their cart on 53rd and 6th is our first stop. When we heard Halal Guys was coming to Dallas we were ecstatic, the first night they were open we stood in the sweltering heat for over an hour to get our fix. Fast forward to tonight, we are driving back from Houston and look up what time Halal Guys closes, since it's somewhat on our way home. The restaurant closes at 11pm and we make it to the location at 10:50. The door is locked and there is a line inside, I asked the gentleman in a Halal Guys tee shirt minding the door what time it is and he states that it's 10:50 but they don't have enough people to serve everyone. He goes on to state that they will be open again at 10am. Okay, I get that it's a high demand restaurant in Dallas, that just opened. My issue is that Halal Guys relies almost entirely on word of mouth marketing, shutting your doors 10 minutes early will inevitably upset customers, who will then poorly review a restaurant that they would otherwise like. Patronizing customers who are coming in for a late night snack by telling them you are open at 10am makes your customers wonder what you are thinking. I'm hungry now not 11 hours and 10 minutes from now. The last time I checked 10:50pm is 10 minutes before 11pm and plenty of time for a fast counter serve restaurant to move a line of 20 customers. If you are going to lock the doors at 10:50 then post your closing time to reflect this. Your customers in the Dallas area are driving up to 50 miles because they love your food, don't forget the customers that stood in line at your carts during blizzards, rain, and heat waves. They are the reason you have expanded, and they continue to be the reason you...
Read moreWent here at 10pm tonight and waited for 5 minutes and was the only person in the front. The only employee I saw was washing dishes in the back. I ended up going to Whataburger next door instead. This isn't the first time I've had to resort to Whataburger. One time Halal Guys was out of beef.
Also, it's very weird to me that a relatively new chain utilizes such low quality ingredients. This place could be so much better if they used high quality lettuce and fresh pita. The pita here is very gross.
Original review: I nearly skipped this place because of a few negative reviews. I'm glad I didn't. It was quite tasty. I ordered the combo platter with white sauce and a little red sauce. I recommend getting extra white sauce because you don't want to run out. The chicken was pretty good but the gyro meat was so much better. Quite flavorful. In the future, I'll probably just get a gyro meat platter. The rice was good too. I heard the hot sauce was hot so I asked for a "little" and she just put one squirt across. I asked her for more and she looked at me like I was crazy and asked me if I wanted to taste test it first. I declined. When I was eating the parts with the red sauce it did feel like I was breathing fire out of my mouth but there was no pain involved and it wasn't necessary for me to drink large quantities of water. I'd say it was a perfect level of heat, more akin to a jalapeno than a habanero in terms of spiciness. If you like spicy then I think you could have them put a lot of hot sauce on your platter without too much issue. If you don't like spicy...
Read moreArrived at your establishment on Lemmon Avenue at 8:35 PM Friday evening. All the chairs were up and on tables person was mopping. It appeared they were getting ready to close for the evening even though your posted hours are till midnight on Friday and Saturday. When I went to the counter to order my food, most of the items were broken down and looked like they were getting ready to put them away for the evening sitting out open on the top of the counters. I declined tomatoes because they looked awful …prep work Definitely needs some help. I also wasn’t offered hummus or baba ghanoush as part of my dish I guess because they already had those put away. I suffer from food allergies to dairy and gluten, having previously spoke with “chefs“ as they identified themselves at several of your locations, and was informed of what I could eat off of the menu that was safe with my allergies. Upon further review, now that you have an allergen menu available on your website, which I had never come across previously, …all the information that I was given was incorrect. Basically, if you are allergic to dairy or gluten , you should not eat at this establishment. I have no confidence after speaking with the “chef” and having been given incorrect dietary information, that they have the ability to practice the necessary protocols to prevent cross contamination or are even aware of these practices.
If you have any food allergies I would not recommend eating here.
Also tried to phone location no one answers just recording saying voicemail full not...
