I though a lot about writing this review but I have to share this experience so people know what goes on here. I usually give good reviews but this one deserves the 1 star. I recently moved to Dallas and I was looking for a good hair salon close to where I moved. I went in for highlights and I wanted them brighter and to lighten my color base. KC was amazing, her personality was very attentive and she was really sweet but the problem was that she is only 20 years old and her experience was not enough to do the change I wanted. She was very assuring that she could do the process and that it would look great, so I decided to give her a try. I ended up with darker hair and awful looking highlights and the worst part is that they charged me $240 for this! When I was paying at the front desk, they recognized it was an awful job and offered me to come the next day so another person with experience could fix it and that it would be free of charge. Sammy tried to fix it but it was the complete opposite extreme, and when I told her that it needed low lights or tone it down she said we could do it the next session and that we needed to go to the extreme in order to get the desired result. Her assistant came and did a poor job at blowdrying my hair, it was over processed and looking bad. Sammy came back and cut some brittle ends but did not style it properly. My hair looked really bad, Sammy noticed it but she was too busy and at this point I decided to leave this place. As I was approaching the exit they asked me at the front desk if a wanted to schedule an appointment for the low lights and I asked how much would that be and they said it was $305 for those. I cordially declined and when I was preparing to leave the girl at the front desk told me it was $120 for the visit. I told her it was supposed to be a corrective visit free of charge and she said that the "hair cut" was not included. So, they charged me $120 for cutting some bristle ends after all the process when the hair was already dried. Seriously, she grabbed the scissors and cut a couple of ends and she didn't even spend 2 minutes cutting my hair. Well, the truth is that Sammy was very sweet and tried to do her best but she was very busy and didn't have the time to do the proper hydrating mask and low lights. After all, she was fixing another's mistake. My problem was not with the girls that worked on my hair, they were really sweet and tried their best. What I couldn't believe was the person at the front desk who was very dismissive and said I had to pay for that service after they told me the night before that I didn't have to pay for the correction. To me, that was very disrespectful and unconsidered but I decided to pay and leave. May I add, that I have done this process before many times back home and never had a problem, always had highlights done. This experience at Voss was a nightmare and not because of the mistake and needing to correct it, those things happen and I understand, it was the "I don't care you have to pay" from the girl at the front desk. Nobody should pay $120 for someone to cut some bristle ends, that is not a correct thing to do.
I went to the Tangerine Salon at Preston Hollow where they fixed everything and my hair is looking great!! I ended up paying a lot less than the $360 dollars I spent at Voss Salon. In my experience, Voss is too expensive for what they offer and they really don't care about the clients. They could have done so many things to make this right and they had the opportunity to do do, but they really didn't care and you could tell, they made me feel really bad. It was a lesson learned and I'm thankful to Tangerine Salon for fixing everything and being so attentive and...
Read moreI had a wonderful experience at this Salon. They were very busy on a Friday at 9 am when I arrived, but I was checked in quickly and shown wear to get a robe and meet back at the front reception area. I was asked if I'd ever been to this salon before ( I had not, a dear friend referred me). They said "we have a gift for you!" Wow really? I thought how nice! I accepted the gift which was a little goodie bag that had shampoo, conditioner (color safe), a referral card for 25 dollars off, a free brow wax or moisture masque on my next visit, bounce back to get 20 percent off retail. I was pleasantly surprised by this. ( others salons never really did anything like this for me. I waited, my stylist then came to greet me (Ry). She took me over to her station. Which was very clean and the chairs and lighting were very comfortable. She spent a few minutes talking with about the options I had made for my appointment. I also was able to address concerns I had about my hair and scalp and she talked with me about some new products I wanted to switch to, to help with my hair. Please let me also express I have extremely long hair so she had her work cut it for her. Even when she was Un wrapping my hair and pulling out Bobby pins she was like you weren't kidding this is long. She offered me coffee, water ect., after two ponytail holders and a hand full of Bobby pound later she was able to evaluate, mix color and start the application process. She was very organized, polite and capped my hair after application so it wouldn't make a mess on my skin and if he able to get up and use the restroom if I needed to. The sorting process was about 40 minutes before rinsing out my hair. She put a moisturizing mask on my hair for 10 minutes, applied toner to bring out the blue color some more. Then took me back to evaluate if I was happy with the color. I was! She then dried my hair to help me cut my hair the way I had shown her in a picture I brought. Then aftee a good chunk of time styling my mermaid long hair! Perfection she was done! She asked to take some photos I agreed then I went to check out. She helped me find the Oribe- serene scalp balancing shampoo and conditioner we had failed about and I added it to my check out process. Well here comes the even better part they offered me 20 percent off of the shampoo and conditioner and then threw in a free choice on a travel size product! I didn't even know where to start so I asked which one was a good choice and the woman at the counter was nice enough to go over the options and I went with a texture spray! Also the price on coloring my hair was which is extremely long remember, was well under what I have paid at other place for less than the quality I got here. So let's recap -Goodie bag -20 percent off hair care products -Referral 25 dollars and my referral gets 25 dollars off. free travel size product ( I got texture spray) free drinks while getting services luxury vibes up to date styling equipment (Dyson life)
Also I normally lose curls fairly quick in Texas with weight, humidity, Texas. I went up in a Bush plane 2 hours after leaving my appointment. Hair was still a nice as when I left the salon after a 30 minute flight. I got my hair done Friday it's still curly and it's Monday. That's next level magic right there! I would say it's a must go to salon if you get the opportunity! Thank you Ry, you made my surprise date very...
Read moreFor the past 5 years, I've gotten my hair done at hair schools, where they're LEARNING on your hair. My experience at Voss was basically worse than a school experience.
I went in for a consultation. I showed a picture of the color I wanted, and they matched me to a stylist who was there (he touched my hair, did a strand test, etc) and said he could do the service on my hair. I decided to go to a PROFESSIONAL instead of a STUDENT because I wanted to leave the salon with the color I was seeking.
COLOR APPOINTMENT: It took my stylist over THREE HOURS to apply bleach to my hair (the longest bleach application I've ever had was an hour and a half). He was so unfamiliar AND/OR slow, that he started washing some of the bleach out after TWO HOURS before finishing the bleach application - and my hair was obviously over processed. He used TWELVE BOWLS of bleach (the most bleach ever applied to my hair was four and a half) -he blamed it on Voss having small bowls. Fast forward, after the color is applied and washed out, I walk back to the chair and look at my hair to find my roots are completely missed. I asked what happened and he said he did it INTENTIONALLY, WITHOUT asking me if that was my desired look. Why would I get a fresh color and desire to leave the salon looking like I have a month of new growth?? Never in my history of hair colors, has a stylist ever left my roots undone, except for this instance at Voss.
COLOR CORRECTION APPOINTMENT: We bleach, wash, color, wash, and then I ask for a mirror. I'm back in the salon to FIX my roots and he STILL MISSED sections of my roots! I ask him to put the color on the missed areas but he applies the color to the whole perimeter, which ends up darkening my roots (I communicated that I wanted my hair the same color, no ombre/transitional look).
Ultimately, Voss quoted me one price and then charged me double for a horrible experience where my hair stylist used my hair as a canvas for practice. I left the salon with a rainbow of colors, breakage and overall hair health damage. It could've been prevented if Voss was honest during my consultation about not being able to perform the service. I've gone for consultations at other studios, where they share they did not have familiarity or experience working with my hair texture and therefore did not feel comfortable doing my hair. An annoying conversation, but honestly a professional and respectful one (because when I go to a PROFESSIONAL, that's not the time for you to EXPERIMENT or PRACTICE on my hair).
I left the stylist's name off because he was terrified his reputation would be tarnished (his words before I left Voss), but I have to post this review because everyday when I see my hair, I'm reminded how I never got the results I went...
