Let me start by saying that the manager completely made up for the terrible service we received, which is why this review is two stars instead of one.
We flew in from out of town for a bachelorette weekend, and this restaurant came highly recommended by multiple articles and blogs. I called weeks in advance to reserve a large party (7+ people), and the hostess over the phone was fantastic—super helpful and accommodating. Unfortunately, the actual service during our visit was among the worst I’ve ever experienced.
When we arrived, the table wasn’t set—no silverware, napkins, nothing. I figured it was no big deal, just different from how most restaurants typically prepare for pre-booked large parties. Our server did greet us quickly, and we placed our drink and appetizer orders fairly fast. So far, so good.
But after that, the service went downhill. Food runners brought our appetizers, yet we still had no silverware. We had to wait for our server to return just to ask for some, which felt really odd. The water pitcher emptied quickly—understandable with 7+ people—but it was never refilled. We also ordered a mimosa champagne bucket, and despite finishing the bottle, we were never asked if we’d like a second.
I ordered the burrata bruschetta, which was AMAZING—highly recommend it. But my entrée, the avocado toast, was a letdown. It came on thick Texas toast rather than the usual sourdough, which would’ve been fine if the bread had actually been toasted. It was soft, pale, and not even warm. I asked our server if the kitchen could just re-toast the bread—not remake the dish—and she agreed. But I kid you not, the plate was gone for maybe 15 seconds before a food runner brought it back completely unchanged. The avocado hadn’t even shifted on the toast. If the kitchen couldn’t re-toast it, I’d rather they just told me than pretend something was done. It felt dismissive and a little dishonest.
When the server checked in and I told her I didn’t like it, she did nothing to address the issue. Later, we had to flag her down for boxes and the check—even though we had been sitting there for 20+ minutes with untouched plates and empty water glasses. She did have two other large parties, but we noticed she was much more attentive to them. I understand needing to consolidate tasks and prioritize, but when she brought boxes to the other table, why not bring ours too?
Eventually, I asked the hostess to speak to a manager. He was wonderful—apologetic, understanding, and took care of the avocado toast charge. He even offered me a replacement dish, but I declined since the rest of the group had finished eating. He also generously comped 50% of our bill, which I really appreciated.
All in all, I hope our server was just having a rough day. The restaurant itself is adorable and most of the food was great—everyone else in my party enjoyed their meals. I’m not sure I’d return the next time I’m in Dallas, but I genuinely appreciate the manager’s effort to make...
Read moreYesterday was my third time at Chelsea’s. We came for brunch and it was a beautiful experience as always. This restaurant has a way of making you feel good while you’re eating, I mean they really understand culinary arts. I had a craving for the Cheddar Jalapeños Biscuits & Gravy, my favorite meal on their menu. When we arrived, the waitress pleasantly informed us that they were out of gravy and biscuits. I hesitated, wondering what else was there to eat..I mean I’ve been day dreaming about those biscuits, they were just that amazing. Realizing how I felt, she immediately said we have something that isn’t on the menu, the hangover skillet, I think you’ll like. I decided to give it a shot and my husband got the Texas Steak Benedict.
A few minutes later the chef came to our table and apologized for not having what I wanted on the menu. He asked if there was anything else I found appealing on the menu and that he would personally prepare it for me. I wasn’t sure and said the waitress took our order so that was okay. He then said how about this, I’ll prepare a few meals and have you try them all at our expense. At that point I was so surprised. I’m an avid restaurant goer and I’ve never experienced such in my entire life. The level of service at Chelsea is astounding. I mean everyone, from the valet staff, to the ladies at the reception, to the waiters and chef are pure perfection!
They prepared a feast for my husband and I and it was incredible. 10/10 Chefs kiss. Our Feast: Texas Steak Benedict Crab Cake Benedict 2 Side orders of Bacon 2 Plates of Hangover skillet, one was made with French fries and the other with potatoes. And a bottle of Wine to go with it.
It was finger licking good. Will I keep coming back? Absolutely!! Chelsea’s Corner is just that great. Not sure if they’ll see this review but I just wanted to say thank you for always making us feel special when we come to eat. May Gods blessings continue to flow in...
Read moreI will preface this by saying, you do have to check it out for yourself, maybe my friends and I just went during the perfect storm. Also the waitress, Jordan (?) my friends and I had was phenomenal!
All that being said, this place was alright, went on a Sunday morning for brunch, and got seated immediately in the patio area, which was nice, however after that, my friends and I didn't get any service for like 15 minutes. Tables that were seated after us got tended too and even got drinks before we even got acknowledged. There only seemed to be that one waitress to be working the patio and a lot of people were coming in for brunch. I asked for coffee as my drink and Jordan so kindly told me that she was sorry it was so long in between refills because they had one coffee maker...not her fault, that I understand, but to only have one coffee maker? Especially for brunch time? Just not good. Also did take forever to finally order after getting our drinks because Jordan was so busy trying to tend to others. Didn't seem she had very much help.
Food tasted really good, got the smoked chicken enchiladas, but the portions are a bit small to me, at least it'll feed a small child.
Like said, probably went during the perfect storm, but not a place I would go back too. (2 out of 5 Stars)
(UPDATE)
So you guys, I ended up going back with my friends, during brunch time, and it certainly was much better than the first time. Like I had said in my previous experience i thought we had gone during a perfect storm. We did have another waiter and we sat inside the restaurant so that could of helped, (he did hook me up in getting me like two mugs of coffee so i didn't have to wait on him to refill me us, which was my concern the first time...I just wanted some coffee. If you get alcohol, you won't have this problem.) Anyways, we also got pretzels, southwest chicken egg rolls and the burgers were really good! (4...
