This is probably the best experience I've had renting a car.. From the start to finish, no doubt the best. At pick up, there was a LOOOONG line at Alamo, then looking around I saw that there's a way to expedite the check in since I booked online, and voila.. from probably the 20th in line to picking up my car.. That's topnotch in my opinion. I just needed to show the person at the garage my code and I was directed to where I can get my vehicle. And, there were 3 choices of vehicle waiting for me.. I can get whatever I wanted and not be assigned, that's just amazing! I took the Dodge Durango GT of course..
Then drove off the garage, I just showed my credit card and DL and I was out the garage at no time. Then on the first stop eating lunch, for some reason the screen is not working.. I needed to restart the car 3-4 times before it finally turn on. The car only has 5K miles in it, so probably a minor defect, but Alamo has an automated text sent to my phone. So I decided to report it, knowing it was just a robot, but to my surprise, it was a real person on the opposite side. I was offered to have my car replaced any time, I'm like for real? But we decided to keep it and thought it was just a fluke.. and it was.. the car ran amazingly.. I love the sport mode.. It does not have all the bells and whistles, but the power in that engine is just amazing.. We loved travelling around Miami with that car..
Then time to take the car back, the lady that checked the car asked "is there anything we can do to make the experience much better".. I said, nothing really, the car works amazingly.. then my wife reported "except at the start when the screen didn't work". The lady apologized and offered a discount.. I was like FOR REAL??? she was yep, that's how they treat customers.. and we were so amazed by that.. we didn't really need it, but was still given the discount..
Alamo was for real with their customer service! I highly recommend...
Read moreThis is one of the worst service experience I've had. I've called customer service 10 times to resolve this matter but I've been unsuccessful. So, this is the deal, on December 20th I rented a car from Alamo Fort Lauderdale Airport at 6 pm. I drove the car to Pompano Beach for the night. In the morning, I came out to use the car but a tire was flat. I called Alamo and they suggested that they would send a person to put on the spare then I can go back to the airport for a car exchange. I refused that option mainly because FLL airport was crazy during the holidays. So, I told Alamo to just pick up the car and end my contract.
Alamo called a tow service and they took the car away. Instead of returning the car to the FLL rental place it took it to a tire repair shop. The tire place called me and told me to pick up the car. I informed the tire shop that the car is not my responsibility and they should call FLL Alamo. Alamo is the one who called the tow truck in the first place, not me. I knew there was some confusion, so I called Alamo and said that their car is at a tire place that I'm no longer responsible for this car. They said they understood but they didn't pick up the car until four days later!
The end of this story is that Alamo charged me for the rental. Over 950 dollars for a car I used less than 10 hours. They are willing to give me 50% back but I think I should get the entire amount taken off of my credit card. I've called for going on a month to resolve this matter but...
Read moreI’ve always had great experiences renting with Alamo, and I truly appreciate the service I’ve received over the years. However, during my most recent trip, I had a bit of a disappointing interaction at check-in.
The employee helping me began making comments about the government shutdown and blaming Democrats for my flight delay. He also made remarks about China when the printer malfunctioned while printing my rental agreement. It caught me off guard — especially after being delayed for over 16 hours — and felt a little inappropriate for the setting.
I tried to keep the conversation positive by pointing out that we both had breast cancer awareness ribbons (mine on my wrist and his on his lanyard), and even complimented his Halloween shirt that Alamo provided for employees that day. But the political comments made the situation a little awkward and uncomfortable.
I’m not someone who enjoys debating politics, and I really value when interactions stay professional and friendly. I just wanted to share this feedback so it can be addressed appropriately — I still appreciate the service overall and will continue renting with Alamo, but I hope future experiences stay focused on the great customer service you’re known for. I also commented to the employees when bringing the truck back in that the FLL team is UNMATCHED on getting customers checked back in when they drop the vehicle off! I couldn’t praise them more about how efficient and...
