Do not waste your precious pre-flight time at this restaurant. TLDR; slow, lousy service, adequate food. Keep walking!
Completely unorganized seating (wait to be seated while the servers take turns addressing the line). Typically, I sit at the bar but it was full so we needed a table. No paper menus. No QR menus. Online order only and their website was down so no one could access the menu. The wait staff kept asking people what they wanted to order knowing full well no one could get a menu! It took several drive-bys from our sassy server, pointing toward the bar area saying the menu was posted there before I finally got up and tracked it down. See the photo of a 8.5x11 piece of paper in a plastic sleeve taped to a pole. It would have been easier to just tell us the six items available. I took a photo so I could bring it back to my table. This was still during Covid guidelines so I wanted to sit back down and take my mask off as soon as possible. And let's not forget, this is an airport restaurant so waiting ten minutes to order isn't ideal.
I ordered a Bloody Mary (the old fashioned way through our server since the app was down) and was asked if I wanted to make it a double. I obliged. 15 minutes later (after my food was ordered and delivered) I asked about my Bloody Mary and was brought a beer. That was rectified quickly, but the Bloody Mary was the saddest Bloody Mary I've ever seen. Not even an olive. The glass wasn't even full. It tasted like tomato juice. I assume it wasn't the double I ordered, and I was (fortunately) only charged for a beer.
I felt especially bad for the gentlemen at the table next to use who used the app to order his pulled pork sandwich before we even sat down. We ordered quesadillas and the pulled pork as well, and got ours before the poor guy. Our shared server didn't seem to comprehend or care that he ordered and paid for a meal and no one was bringing him anything. The pulled pork sandwich and quesadillas weren't bad. Our server tried to sell the pulled pork as the best thing ever, but it was honestly nothing special.
One star may be a bit harsh based on our actual experience, but I don't want to be responsible for raising Whiskey River's rating and deluding anyone into think it's...
Read moreI had the absolute worst experience at whiskey river. They have a sign that says wait to be seated so I was standing there for five minutes until one server looked at me like I was slow and pointed out a bunch of open seats. I then tried to order on my phone when I sat and it didn’t allow me to, so when a server finally came over after fifteen minutes I ordered some fries (that I had to send back because they were sitting and oily, not fresh at all) and a margarita. On the app it says the margarita is 13.99 - so that’s what I assumed I was paying. I ended up ordering one more margarita as my flight was delayed. To my surprise when I went to pay my check I was charged 21.99 for each margarita. I was confused because I was not asked if I wanted a double but apparently the server thought it was okay to charge me that way. I’m a server so I understand maybe he normally doesn’t get tipped well and granted an 18% gratuity is added he wanted to up the bill to get a bigger tip, that is not okay. I went up to the bartender and pointed to the traditional margarita and asked what would you give a guest if this is what they ordered, they specified a single shot. I then asked to speak to a manager, she had an absolutely terrible attitude and said that I was supposed to specify that I wanted a single shot in my margarita, again I am a server so I KNOW unless the GUEST specifies they want a double, they will be getting a single. I said I didn’t think I should pay for that because that’s not what I wanted and she said I drank it so I had no choice (I didn’t even finish the second margarita because I was really upset, I wasn’t trying to consume that much alcohol.) She was so rude. The server was not wise he would’ve gotten a better tip if he was honest. SMH at both of them. And also, they don’t CARD - I could’ve been...
Read moreProbably the most overpriced garbage food I’ve ever had. I travel every week for work so I’ve eaten at nearly every international airport in the country and this is by far one of the worst. The buffalo chicken sandwich was overcooked to the point it was a solid dark brown rock. The bun was stale to the point it fell apart cutting it. The chicken tenders were burned equally as bad and looked more microwaved than the buffalo chicken sandwich. The quesadilla had tortillas that were stale they too fall apart. I rarely ever put reviews out because honestly I’m usually easy to please but this was gross. The only good thing they had was the server. He was busting his butt running around as it was him and one other person managing the entire floor and I felt terrible for the poor guy being crushed like that. I assume the kitchen was staffed similarly which likely played into the burned items. The quality is trash and for $20 and you get what looks like they stole tenders from the burger king next door and overcooked them and they do not come with fries, those are $6 more. They aren’t putting the money into the staff, into the food, or into the environment so I am not sure what they are doing with the profits other than probably using them to power their boat in Lauderdale. I really regret giving these guys my money other than wanting to thank this amazing server for the huge effort he is putting...
