Dear Dollar Rent A Car Management,
I wanted to share my recent experience with Dollar Rent A Car at Fort Lauderdale International Airport. I had confirmed, booked, and paid for my rental car in full almost two weeks prior to my trip, and everything was going smoothly until I arrived at the counter. The agent requested to see my physical passport, which I did not have on me, but I provided a printout and a PDF copy of my passport page. Despite my efforts, I was informed that without a physical passport, I could not rent a car. This rule was disappointing and frustrating, especially since I had prepaid for the rental.
I understand the importance of verifying identification and following protocols, but I was disappointed by the lack of flexibility and understanding from the management. Despite the agent's efforts to assist me, the manager's refusal to accept my alternative forms of identification left me stranded at the airport with limited options. The suggestion to video call someone where I was staying to prove the validity of my passport was not feasible for me, and I felt unsupported in finding a solution.
I was faced with the dilemma of either spending $80 plus on Uber fees to retrieve my passport or canceling my rental altogether. After a long wait on hold with your customer service, I was informed that I had actually booked through a third party company, Miles Car Rental. This was news to me, as I had believed I booked directly through your website. The lack of clarity and transparency in the booking process added to my frustration and confusion. I was also informed that canceling my reservation (agent from Miles car rental) would result in a deductible being taken out and a delayed refund process, which further exacerbated the situation.
After returning with my passport (still regretting I paid so much for an uber) The agent who assisted me was amazing, very thoughtful and professional. Just want to make it clear that I displayed no annoyance or any sense of frustration at no time during the experience, I was just internally annoyed that a copy of my passport was not accepted.

The lack of available SUVs in the class I had prepaid for added to the challenges I faced in finding a suitable vehicle for my needs. Despite settling for a less-than-desirable option, the vehicle I received was not properly cleaned and maintained, which was disappointing and unacceptable, I took it anyway because I really had important places to be present.
The overall experience with Dollar Rent A Car left me feeling disappointed and inconvenienced, especially as I had to miss an important event due to the delays and complications encountered. Which was the main reason for my trip to Florida.

Dear Dollar Rent A Car Customer Relations,
I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding my rental experience at your Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport location.
While getting the vehicle on 22nd of Oct 2025, I was dismayed to discover an unauthorized additional charge of $711 applied to my credit card. This charge was made without prior notice, consent, or any clear explanation from your staff. At the time of rental, I was not informed of any potential fees beyond the agreed-upon total, and no one attempted to clarify the reason for this substantial additional amount.
When I sought assistance from the staff at the Fort Lauderdale Airport counter, I encountered discourteous and unhelpful behavior. Unfortunately, the representatives on duty were neither willing nor able to provide a satisfactory explanation for the charge, which has left me extremely dissatisfied with both the service quality and the lack of transparency demonstrated by your company. However, during online renting process, system showed that I covered all the costs including full insurance.
Given these circumstances, I respectfully request the following: A detailed written explanation of the $711 charge, including documentation and justification. A full refund of this amount should it be determined that the charge was applied in error or without proper disclosure and authorization.
I would appreciate acknowledgment of this complaint and a formal response within seven (7) business days. I trust Dollar Rent A Car will address this matter promptly and take appropriate steps to prevent similar issues in the future.

Upon my arrival at the location the associate was very angry he was working late and that I would have to come back in the morning. I had no way of getting off the airport so he said he will do me the favor and rented me the car. He walked to the parking lot with his backpack on his back and left me in the lot and go. I was in the parking lot at that time of the night for about 35 minutes with no one to help me.
I started honking the horn and finally another person came and said you can take the car and I went on the ask what is the price he said the price you have $228 and was able to let me out of the lot.
The next day I saw the amount was different and called customer service was told I have to wait after I return the vehicle to adjust the price. I return the vehicle at 11:38 and the contract was never closed. I called customer service again who said they will send a request to have the contract close then call back and I did.
I waited 22 minutes in line to speak with the manager at the counter he never came, left him my number never called. Called again this morning and was told by Amber from billing who said that no supervisor to speak with and continue to say if I want he can try to refer me to a manager but their will be no adjustment to the bill and it stands
Is that how customers are treated? Is the customer centric service? I am awaiting a response because I did not ask for any upgrade and from the moment I rented the car, leaving me in a parking lot alone by your associate for over 30 minutes, unable to leave is that the service that Hertz have Dollar render to customer.
