**Note SIXT's response after reading this review. Telling me to contact an email address that I have already contacted and told them NOT to tell me to do again IN THIS REVIEW. They have my rental agreement number in this review, and all information needed to make this right. Clearly they don't care employees are breaking the law and ripping people off. STAY AWAY! Their prices are cheaper for a reason, and the reason is because of things like this! Read all one star reviews before renting from this terrible company. They dob't care at all about breaking the law to market/sell lower than competition and then screw over a percentage of customers to raise their profit.
Flat out bold face lied to! I prepaid for my car rental through expedia for the week for $601, then when we checked in, the agent told us we had to buy additional liability insurance from SIXT, and personal accident coverage (PAC) since we only had collision coverage on our normal insurance and credit card company. I told him I am pretty sure we have rental liability through our regular insurance provider, and he told us we did not, that we had to buy it to be covered. So we were charged significantly more ($250+) when we picked up the car. Upon reading the contract, I saw "additional" liability insurance was listed under their "roadside assistance" and the fine print at the end of the agreement states the following:
"We offer for an additional charge the following optional products: Loss Damage Waiver (LDW), Partial Damage Waiver (PDW), Personal Accident Coverage (PAC), Extended Roadside Protection, Supplemental Liability Insurance Select (SLI), and Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI300) for certain select vehicles. Before deciding whether to purchase any of these products, you may wish to determine whether your personal insurance or credit card affords you coverage during the rental period. The purchase of any of these products is not required to rent the vehicle."
So I contacted my insurance company, who explained we absolutely DO have liability coverage for car rentals, and that we were flat out lied to since the agent had no way of checking this for us.
I have tried multiple times to contact SIXT about this situation, and sent multiple emails, only to get the run around, and no resolution. On top of this, a random $19.20 showed up on my credit card from them over a month later, without any explanation. I disputed the charge immediately with my credit card company, and only then did they send us an invoice stating we didn't pay a $2.40 toll, and therefore have to pay a $14.99 additional "administrative fee" to them on top of it. But we paid EVERY toll with cash (in fact, we were extra paranoid about doing so, so I know we did), so I don't believe this is a legitimate charge either. This has been such a bad experience that I am taking legal action against this horrible company for committing fraud and lying to its customers. They've had way too many chances from me to make this right, so it's time to take it to the next level so they stop lying for profit.
To SIXT regarding RENTAL AGREEMENT 9517552904: A response to this review to contact you guys directly is no longer acceptable. I have done this, and only get the run around. If you want to make this right after the massive headache you have caused, you will refund the ENTIRE amount of our rental and discipline/fire the employee who lied to us to get us to pay an additional $250 for a prepaid expedia rental, which I'm sure he gets some sort of incentive/bonus for. You now have the agreement number and can refund it if you care at all about agents lying and ripping your...

Following up on my recent horrible experience with Sixt and their nonexistent customer service.
After posting my first review, I received only a generic email address from Sixt to follow up. I emailed immediately, only to receive an automated responseâand nothing else since. No acknowledgment. No action. No reimbursement, despite their promise. No response to any of the other issues I raised.
So Iâm reposting this review and will continue updating it until I receive a real, human response and resolution. In the meantime, save yourself the headacheârent from literally any other company.
Hereâs my original, still unanswered review: HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE! Customer service is non-existent. . Do NOT rent from this company if you expect any kind of accountability or basic support. I rented a one-way SUV from Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Salt Lake City (SLC) for 9 days to haul furniture. I chose a Ford Expedition, which cost me $50 more per day than a standard SUV like a GMC Acadia. I only needed the larger vehicle for the first 4 days, then planned to swap it out for a cheaper car for the remaining 5. When I asked in advance, I was told I could not reserve the switch due to the open rental â but that it was âno problem,â I just needed to go to any local office and theyâd take care of it on the spot. That was a lie. I drove 40 minutes from Provo to the SLC location, only to be told: They had no cars available. They were too busy to help me. I would have to come back another time. I wasted over an hour and a half of my time â and was forced to keep the more expensive vehicle for the full rental. No apology. No solution. But it gets worse. At the end of Day 1 of my cross-country drive, the âChange Oilâ light came on. I called customer service, and they told me to get it changed and Iâd be reimbursed. So on Day 2 of my tight 3-day drive, I had to spend 2 hours finding a service station, sitting through an oil change, and paying $121.10 out of pocket â all while trying to stay on schedule. It caused me to arrive late at my destination. When I returned the car at SLC, I couldnât hand them the receipt because: The location is off-airport, and I had to catch a shuttle to make my flight. The lot was chaotic, and the staff were overwhelmed. The attendant told me to call customer service and email the receipt later. The next morning, I did just that â and thatâs when the real customer service nightmare began. I was told only a manager could process the refund. I was placed on hold for over an hour waiting for a manager. No one ever came. I called back the next day, asked for a manager again, and after holding several minutes they said there was no manager available, I told them it was UNACCEPTABLE. They wa put me on hold again and after a few minutes it was disconnected from their end. I called again. Same thing. Every time, I reached a foreign call center that couldnât connect me to a US-based representative or anyone with authority. To this day, Iâm still trying to get my refund for the oil change. No follow-up. No accountability. No functioning support structure. Check out my reviews and you will see I dont post negative reviews. So for me to post this, it should tell you something about how bad their service was. All of my posts over the years have been positive except for 2 doctors that misdiagnosed my daughter. I dont want to hurt anyone with a negative review, unless it's really...

FREQUENT SIXT CUSTOMERâ BUT NEVER AGAIN.
A week after we returned from our trip we got an erroneous bill for damages, claiming damage to the rear bumper? Then when we called to remedy the situation and show photos they donât have anyone in the claims department that will take the call. Then we clicked here to see the reviews and to our surprise this seems to be a common scam theyâre pushing.
The email was so fishy, i actually called thinking it was a phishing scam to get us to pay a fake bill.
We got our damage deposit back the day after travel, because there was no damage.
Then a week later we get $1300 for who knows what, and we have used SIXT religiously due to their operating hours, good counter services and customer service.
But the last 3 times weâve rented weâve had after the fact charges, but this one is unacceptable. A company shouldnât be allowed to lie and scam a client out of money to fix a previous issue or a non issue. If youâre not making enough moneyâ raise your prices donât try to bill our insurance or our third party insurance that we paid for in case of an actual damaging event. Thatâs actually insurance fraud. This isnât just a scam, itâs fraud.
Usually an employee walks out with us at SIXT and has us sign that we donât see damage. This time they just handed us the keys and said it was in a certain parking lot and signed off on the damage report for us. RED FLAG.
4 weeks ago I was checking our credit card statement and noticed our $200 SIXT rental was now $450 on another trip. My husband is 6â8â, we ALWAYS rent a full size car, or a truck. We never get the economy, mid size, etc. never. Because we know he has to have a certain car, therefore we pay the money to reserve the car we must have.
We paid for and reserved a truck on this trip & they didnât have it, and the only full sized car they had was a luxury car, they asked if they would be ok. We said verbatim- we donât care as long as he fits. Cool, they were like okay, hereâs a Volvo. A Volvo that by the way was cramped and considered a âmid size SUV.â Againâ heâs 6â8â.
When we got our statement we were charged for a luxury upgrade đ so then I went back and looked and these done this to us the last 3 tripsâ $50+ per day per trip, and my husband just didnât catch it. When I brought it to their attention they agreed to remove $150 on the most recent trip but the rest were permanent, and honestlyâ my bad for not triple checking my receipts.
We have been loyally renting from SIXT for 3 years. It has been mostly good until the last year and honestly I am embarrassed that I thought a car rental company could actually be different.
Weâll be going back to Enterprise and will never use SIXT again, and will be sharing this experience on social media bc this is scam level stuff.
Not only will we not pay this, we will get a lawyer and come out of pocket for principle. Iâll also be looking for others who have been scammed by SIXT. My name on this profile is my name on Tik Tok & Twitterâ please find me if you have been scammed fraudulently by this company because I will be person ensuring you get your money back if they did so illegally.
Do...
