I have been a client at Riverscape for far longer than I ever wanted to be, however there was one single amazing therapist there that has helped me so much, I stuck it out until he relocated. Thankfully, he has found another office to move to & I finally feel like I can post this review.
Riverscape is a terrible mental health facility. Their reception (at the centerville location) does absolutely nothing other than gossip about clients. I am fully aware of the cops being called on a minor, of a minor locking herself in the bathroom and refusing to leave. I can tell you about all of this because I was there when it happened & the situation was not handled properly at all and then the FOLLOWING week the receptionist was still gossiping about it. I knew the minors name & all of the issues that went down that night. A lady in her 60’s is openly discussing personal information of a minor, for all to hear in the waiting room. She rarely greets you & is normally always on her phone or has ear buds in. It is the most unwelcoming feeling.
This office is a 40 min commute for me. The first therapist I was assigned to was Jay. He was seeing my husband & I for couples therapy. Our very first session he told us he doesn’t like doing couples counseling, then he dropped us after we rescheduled one appointment due to a migraine. He had the receptionist leave me a message saying he didn’t feel I was committed to therapy so he didn’t want to see me anymore…
Next I was assigned to Polo, who I have seen 1-2 times a week for over a year…so much for me not being committed. During this time at riverscape there have been so many issues with everything and everyone accept Polo. From scheduling issues, to other people replying to my messages I sent to my therapist on the portal, there were constant issues. Polo didn’t have an office for months because the place flooded & I guess they just didn’t want to fix it?
Polo has found a new clinic to go to & instead of giving him the opportunity to tell his clients, riverscape decided to just send an email. In that email they also insisted Polo would not be accepting insurance of any kind…even tho they couldn’t tell me where he was going. Riverscape also lied & said Polo was totally aware emails were being sent out. After speaking to Polo, he informed me he is absolutely taking insurance, in fact he takes my same insurance as most of his other clients…there is really no insurance his new clinic doesn’t take, yet Riverscape insisted he was self pay only. This feels wrong on SO many levels. They were literally trying to transfer all of his clients vs giving us the opportunity to decide.
Darci, who is the owner, has billed my insurance TWICE now, for conversations that were intended to be formal complaints towards Riverscape, not therapy visits. Darci has never been my therapist. I will be contacting my insurance immediately to file a fraud claim on anything billed by her, as I never had a single session with her. I had no idea Darci was the owner until last week, I now laugh at the previous conversation we had considering she acted like these things were out of her control, she blames the office in Indianapolis for everything & when you speak to Ashlyn or anyone from there they just blamed their therapist for everything. They have lost many many therapist recently….this place is out to make money, not help anyone.
Attached are screenshots of all my recent interactions with them. Their priorities...
Read moreThis could have been personally, but this place was unfortunately not the best fit for me. The initial paperwork is daunting by asking for work phone numbers and social security numbers of emergency contacts and their work numbers and a credit card to keep on file for missed appointments. It made me uneasy to provide that as I prefer discretion in seeking therapy and this was the first time that I have had a counseling center request such information. Additionally, billing was quite confusing. My insurance does not cover mental health until my deductible is met. Getting ready to leave from my first initial appointment I expected to pay when I left. They advised me nothing was owed at the time and I left. About a week after my appointment I noticed a charge came through for $75 from Darcie L Clark LLC. I looked it up through google and found that Darcie L Clark had an office in the Dayton area but it was permanently closed. I was about to call my credit card company to report fraud, but started to wonder if it could be Riverscape. I called and was advised that’s how charges show because that’s the owner. I told them that I was not notified that they were charging me, for what amount, and that it is sketchy that a business ran under the name of Riverscape Counseling comes through as a different charge. Additionally, at my next appointment my receipt showed Riveracape Counseling not Darcie Clark LLC. Fast forward to my next appointment, not a lot of problem was with my therapist, but I did come the realization that my therapist was not going to be my ideal fit. I did schedule another appointment, but the more I thought about my next appointment I just felt it was best for me to look for a different place. I called to cancel my appointment. The appointment was supposedly canceled, which I cancelled about a week an half in advance. I then wake up to an email advising me of my upcoming appointment. I had been scheduled an appointment I didn’t make. I pulled up my online profile and see multiple appointments booked as well as the one I had called and advised them to cancel. At this point I was extremely frustrated. I called and the nice receptionist sympathized with me and stated she was new and would ensure all of my appointments will be cancelled and she would destroy my records as per my request. The only redeeming factor was the new receptionist. As someone who has been in and out of therapy and was looking to get real help this place only added more stress to someone with a...
Read moreI had therapists leave the practice and had to start over with another, who also left in February of 2024 and nobody was ever found to replace her. In November of 2023 Jessica Markey had diagnosed me with something treatable and I have not been able to get those records to my doctor's office to get said treatment. Today, I was informed that she never documented it in my record after all and no treatment plan updated. Sara refused to give me Darcie's (owner) last name, but it was documented in my insurance billing so I have it now. I was also told it would cost $22 to send my record to my primary care physician and then told by Sara that they would not release my records until I paid a balance that arose from improper billing in the first place. I spent the morning on the phone with my insurance company and gave the info to Sara, Darcie Clark(owner)'s employee, then contacted the Ohio Department of Health and Human Services who let me know that it was not legal to be charged and that yes it is illegal to withhold medical records for payment issues and I left a message with the appropriate person there. I do not recommend Riverscape Counseling's practice at all. I had little progress in treatment and now have to begin my diagnosis all over again a year snd four...
