My family and I became partner families with Habitat for Humanity Dayton in 2017'. We completed the entire program, which included completing 550 sweat equity hours. Sixty hours of class curriculum, and saving $1300 in the savings account. We picked out our lot to build our home on Sandy Dr. Build was to take place in January of 2021'. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, based on rule changes made to the program. Initially, the rule in 2017' was if you had young adult children residing with you, and employed, they had to be added to your mortgage. Unbeknownst to me, the rules were changed several years later, when it was time to build our home. I contacted the ombudsman, who investigated the issue. And was contacted by Norm at Habitat for Humanity. He proceeded to explain to me that they were allowed to change the rules. My response to him was, "That's fine, it's when you changed the rules", which is when it's time to build our home. God has taken care of my family & I, and we'll continue to thrive. I DO NOT recommend this program for anyone, we were treated unfairly, and should've been grandfathered into the program, based on the initial rules we were given.
*Taking into consideration, we completed the entire program. I'm 55 years of age, and officially eligible for senior living. Looking forward to homeownership, God has the...
Read moreThe Sears Ave store has some really nice things in it however the prices they set for some things is a bit high and out of control compared to other locations. They do very great things with the money raised from sales but upon walking into the store there was a nice leather couch, love seat and chair and the price was a heart stopping $900. Now I'm sure it was not a cheap set new by far but for $900 someone can buy a brand new set and it makes no sense. Cabinets are priced almost as high as brand new ones unfinished some even higher that you can purchase at Home Depot and Menards. Light fixtures are about the only reasonable priced items there. The prices are to steep for used items when you can have new for less. I think management may need some adjustments on pricing items....
