National Moving Group is inauthentic company who lures customers in with low pricing and then raise their rates after you sign their contract and they have your credit card information and over estimate your weight and charges. I hired them not realizing the scam until it was too late. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF A HEADACHE AND MONEY, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! My job relocated me from Michigan to Atlanta and I needed a moving company. I spoke with a very nice lady name Lily who explained my cost and how they would disassemble and re assemble my furniture , gas, insurance, and all cost was rolled into this $1400-$1600 quote at .42cents per pound and estimating me at approximately 3200lbs. No problem, I was glad to pay $950.00 to secure the move date October 22nd, 2016. They came early on a Thursday to pick my things up which was my bedroom set, dressers, vacuum, BBQ grill, 2 children bikes, and mainly boxes with 90% clothes and rest art work, dishes, pans, paperwork etc. A company by the name of 8mile Moving and Storage out of Livonia MI showed up to my home. Before hand they National Moving Group went over my list and another agent determined I was under weight and charged my card another $502.00. I had three movers show up to my home gather and inventory my things which my husband and wrapped and double wrapped very carefully preparing weeks in advance for the move. My husband followed the movers to the weight station to get the weight ticket of the truck and our items. It begin to rain, the movers put the truck on the weight and did NOT get out of the truck. Wait?!? That means I paid additional for three grown movers sitting in the truck (approx. average weight of a grown man 175lbs-200lbs). I also had to pay 8mile moving and Storage another $950.00 on that day. I called 8mile moving and storage in Livonia and spoke with the owner of the business. I explained that I had taken off work and would be in Georgia Saturday morning mid day will my items be there? June assured me no problem. He's been in business for over 25yrs and Ill have my things on that Saturday. Saturday came and went no delivery no call and nothing. Also, I had to pay another $940.00 to secure the delivery to Georgia. I called on Saturday both National Moving Group and 8mile and Storage company was closed after 2pm. I called Sunday and still they were closed and no one showed up with my things.
I called and received rude treatment, hang up calls, quoted policy that they could hold my items up to 21days I should have read the contract etc, and broken promises for days! I finally received a call explaining that my movers would show up on Thursday October 28th 2016. Ummm no that didn't happen either. Finally Friday the movers show up & unpack my things. There were two movers and despite my dissatisfaction with the whole process, I was cordial, accommodating and polite towards them Two movers showed up, unpacked for awhile ,brings another box in that wasn't mines, took a 2.5-3hr break to get something to eat, I had to call them, they were only suppose to be gone 45mins to 1hr. Come back, it's late and they finish well ...almost until the one mover goes into the truck & go to sleep. Then the other mover & I unpack and try to assemble my things TV stands, desk etc, which by that time its late 2am, , he's tired & frustrated..so am I.. The next day cable guy comes out to hook up my TV's 3big 50 inch screens and 2 of them are visibly cracked when we take them out the box. I informed the company and now they do not want to pay for their negligence. They tells me it's my fault, i must have broken them while packing. I PAID $3500 for them to move/ damage break TV;;s, dishes and fall asleep on the job andnot put my things together!! I send them pics and a $2700 receipt for my TV's..no calls, no insurance report, nothing but terrible service and lies. IM DONE!! Reporting them to the BBB and cancelling my payment this is by far the worst and most unacceptable service, I've ever had in my life and I will NEVER use or recommend them to anyone. SWITCH AND...
Read moreI initially contacted National Moving Group regarding a cross-country move. The associate I worked with, Zach (x221), was very courteous and polite, and the initial quote (just under $3,000) was a great price for the amount of stuff we were moving. Too good to be true, as it turned out...
After receiving my initial deposit, Zach assured me that customer service was their #1 priority, and that I would get regular calls as the move approached regarding updating our inventory and setting the specific move date. When we updated the inventory, I was shocked to hear that adding 7 items to our list upped our total to $4300. But since we had already paid a deposit, I decided to stay with National. Besides, I told myself, for a 3000 mile move, with some pieces that are of significant sentimental and financial value to us, $4300 really wasn't unreasonable.
Then came moving day. The movers themselves were very thorough, and packed our items with great care. But the final total came to $7,000! And what's worse is, they require payment in cash or money order. How on Earth can a reputable company require people to have an extra 2-3k just sitting around in case the moving company makes a significant error in estimating the cubic footage or weight of inventory? The estimates provided by National were so woefully short of the mark! We needed almost twice as much space as they initially estimated.
I also found out, at this point, that they were working through US Moving. When I paid my money, I paid to go through NATIONAL MOVING GROUP. I did not pay to have to go through third-party vendors in case things went wrong. And things went very wrong upon our delivery two weeks later.
The driver of the truck who delivered our belongings was incredibly rude and short-tempered, to the point where he alternated between yelling about money and complaining about the distance of having to transport the products to our apartment. His whining was particularly galling when you consider that HE DID NONE OF THE MOVING HIMSELF. He had another associate do practically all of the moving on his own!
This rude driver demanded his cash up front before anything was moved into our home, then wanted to hit us up for another $500 in cash because of the distance he'd have to walk the items off the elevator. When we relented and gave him a check (again, who just carries thousands of dollars in cash?), he made sure to go cash the check BEFORE his associate (who was a very nice man who just wanted to get the work done) moved anything up to our place. I won't even get into the fact that he parked the truck in front of a public transport train owned by the city of Portland...
On top of all that, a desk and a chair were completely destroyed, and three metal shelves significantly dented. I've begun the claims process on that independently.
Half the blame for this definitely belongs to US Moving Group, and they will hear about this as well. But all in all, I'm left very disappointed, angry, and cash-strapped by the way National Moving Group did things. After I left several voicemails the day of the move, expressing my displeasure, I either got no response from Zach (I had to re-initiate contact in order to learn how to file a claim), or got a dismissive "We'll look into it," from the customer service department.
And yet, I'm brought back to what Zach said the day I signed the contract to have National take care of our move - that they care about their clients, that they want to provide excellent customer service. All talk and no action, as it turns out.
EDIT: Attempts to follow up with US Moving System, the group that actually moved the furniture, are going nowhere. Both phone numbers provided for the company are disconnected and no longer in service. WHO THE HELL ARE YOU WORKING WITH, NATIONAL?!? National ought to be ashamed of themselves for these types of business...
Read moreDO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY!!!!
DO NOT believe any of their estimates! They do not come to your house to look and see what you have, and when they "estimate" how many boxes and pieces of furniture you have they do not give you a range, so you always end up paying more! I was under quoted by $1,400. I read other reviews on here and many people are reporting the same thing. I work in the service industry, and when we give people quotes we ALWAYS give a range from the lowest service price expected, to the highest price expected. This is not so with National Moving Group! They will give you a low estimate to get your business, then gouge you on actual moving day! And of course, you will have to use them if you are on a time crunch to move!
They use third party movers, which they don't tell you about over the phone! Make sure you read the fine print in your estimate! It says they aren't responsible for the third party!
The third party they booked for me - Ross Allied Trucking, was horrible. I missed an entire day that I could have worked because they were so late to pick up my stuff. But don't expect them to care...in the contract it says pickup and delivery dates are not guaranteed. Wonderful customer service right there!
The movers were unprofessional, mumbled the whole time, and told me I had to pay them separate because the deposit I gave National Moving Group was merely a "booking fee". My contract says they were supposed to take an itemized inventory log. They did no such thing! They did not wrap my sofas or my mattress. They didn't even know where I was moving to when they got there! They told me I had to pay extra for steps, because the steps outside the building counted as the first flight. It is a HALF flight outside, which I was assured by Eric in Customer Service would be included!
When they delivered my items, they told me they would not put my boxes in designated rooms unless I paid more. They dumped all of them in my living/dining room. They also did not put all of my furniture back together even though the contract says they are responsible for doing so! The shelves to my bookshelves and the shelves to the inside of my dining room table were strewn all over my living room floor. There are damages to my desk as well!
About a half hour after they left, I went looking for my step stool to start unpacking boxes and putting things in high places. When I realized it was missing, I called the drivers right away. They refused to turn around and bring it back and said they would mail it to me. It has been almost 2 months since my move, and I have received no step stool! I read that another reviewer on here said the movers stole his dolley.
The real icing on the cake is their customer service. I have never dealt with such poor customer service in my entire life. They will not answer your emails, and it is difficult to get a customer service rep on the phone. When you do speak to someone, they won't do anything for you because they will need to speak to their manager. They will promise to call you back, but won't. 2 weeks after I spoke with customer service I called again and the lady said they would not do anything for me and that I needed to get in touch with the third party. I have tried numerous times to actually SPEAK to someone from Ross Alliled Trucking about their poor customer service, but no one will get in touch with me.
This company and the third party do not care whatsoever about what kind of service they provide to their client. They won't even do you the courtesy of hearing about your complaints!
I would never use this company again, and since their customer service is so poor, I feel everyone has a right to know. This is the very first negative review I have EVER written in my life, and I hope it...
